I recently went on the Fitness Holiday event to Turkey. It was a really well organised and balanced affair. The PT elements were holistic yet tailored to me, my needs and targeted at strengthening my weaknesses. The fitness classes were varied, keeping the week really mixed up and was great to try new things. Coupled with the assessments and nutritional advice, I made great gains and have a lot to take away from the event to keep up the momentum. I would recommend Laura, she is patient and helped me to gain confidence so I am now able to go to the gym on my own. She created plans that were personal to my own needs and adapted exercises and showed me how to do exercise in a safe way due to my hyper mobility. As I approached my 50th year, I decided to do something about my unfitness and increasing size! Anyone who spends 10 hours a day driving a HGV will know what I mean! I signed up to Anytime Fitness Gym in Holes Bay, and would go there regularly, I was very keen to transform into the Adonis I had in my mind, although the reality was that I didn't have a clue what I was doing!! And of course being a man, never needed any help or advice!!!!! Then one day Laura introduced herself to me (I was probably entangled in one of the exercise machines at the time!) and we set some goals (being 13 stone instead of 15 for my holiday to Spain!) and an exercise & fitness programme. Her professionalism and patience with me is outstanding, and she fired up my enthusiasm, and I got quite addicted! She gave me a new programme every 4 to 6 weeks, helped me with dietary advice and gave me the encouragement to carry on!!! I went to Spain a fitter, trimmer 13stone 6lb 50 year old with new muscles!! Laura is fantastic, I had a real problem finding someone who could deal with spinal injuries and MS, she has seen me through the surgery leading to a speedier recovery which has been praised by the clinicians treating me. She is happy to spend the time making sure your programme is right for you and altering it as and when needed. I have just finished more sessions with Laura and her personal training has allowed me to achieve personal goals and gain the knowledge to keep my fitness levels up.
She has managed to make me believe I am capable of so much more than I thought.

I have just finished my first month with Laura and I’d highly recommend her. Even within this short time I have gained a positive reward.
She has increased my motivation at the gym and helped me achieve my short term goals and to work towards longer ones.
She gives good explanations for the exercises she suggests and what they are going to achieve. It also helps that she always corrects posture and explains why.
Her nutrition advice is useful and feels realistic, especially as she bases it around my food intolerances.

Having stopped going to a gym for over two years, I found that my fitness had disappeared. So in the next year I joined Anytime Fitness. I then decided that perhaps I should seek the advice of a Personal Trainer as I am slightly old than I was two years ago! Laura has been a great help and started me off at an easier level, until I had to agree with her that I was fitter than I though. She now sets me goals that are pushing me, but also I feel that I want to achieve that goal she has set. Laura makes me want to come to the gym, and enjoy my time there. It is not a chore to spend time in the gym it is great fun. Also Laura’s zumba class on a Wednesday adds a different dimension to my fitness.
Laura also looked at my nutrition, as I said that I was putting on weight. What a delight to be told ‘you are not eating enough’. With Laura help and advice my trousers which were slightly tight are a better fit, and my muffin top is shrinking as well.

Q&As

The goal has to motivate you. There needs to be something that drives you to ensure that when things get tough you keep sticking to the plan. It might be that you are insecure and unhappy with the way you look. It might be being able to improve your fitness in order to play football with your children. It might be that you have an upcoming party, holiday or wedding you want to lose weight for. Write your goal down on a card and keep it with you in your purse or wallet, put it on your fridge, car dash board or at your desk at work. Keep it with you and make sure you are reading it several times a day. Your goal is to show up to your sessions and put in the hard work. I recommend a minimum of 2 sessions per week and one home workout. I understand that everyone has busy schedules, but I am going to ask you to create the time and make training a priority. Be sure to create a support system. Use your family and friends as a crutch during this time by filling them in on your goals and letting them know why you are doing this for yourself. Make sure they know you need their support. You will be surprised how much this helps when things get tough for you. Be prepared-keep good food in your fridge and cupboards. Plan ahead to take healthy meals to work. Set yourself up for success.

Training, nutrition and lifestyle are the 3 key secret factors for success and achieving the body of your dreams. It is my goal to help you modify all 3 of these factors to ensure that you are setting yourself up for success. In order to succeed you must be committed and motivated to do this. I am here to help you and give you guidance, but you will be accountable for your actions. It is you who must make the a conscious effort to follow the structured programme in order to gain results and start making positive changes.

Seeing faces light up when the clients have reached their personal best, or completed a tratholon or reached their goal weight, rehabilitated from an injury and watching their overall development has been highly rewarding.
