What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
It’s in the details. Timing and lighting are imperative. Capturing the mood and ambience of a place can be done by paying attention to lighting, juxtaposition and framing. When portraying a person's personality and emotion in a natural way then photos are best taken candidly and unobtrusively.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
- What kind of photography is required (e.g. for an event, portrait).
- Does the client have any particular preferences for styles of photography.
- For how long is the photographer needed.
- The location of the photoshoot or event, and the amount of guests attending (for events).
- Any other services or products that the client might want (e.g. second photographer, videography, photo albums e.t.c).
What do you love most about your job?
I love to create beautiful or evocative images that capture emotion or specific moments in time that tells a story. I like to photograph the small details and also large scale landscapes which all contribute to producing a ‘mis-en-scène’ of a place. I also enjoy playing around with creating different moods in post-editing. I find clients’ grateful responses particularly rewarding.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I like the artistic freedom and expression of being able to create images in my style and whenever it suits me. I like being able to pick and choose photography projects that interest me.
Why should our clients choose you?
- I listen to and am responsive to the client's requirements and have always delivered photos that client’s have been happy with.
- I am flexible in how I deliver the photos, asking the client how they would like to receive the photos and offer various options and packages to suit the client's needs.
- I have a fast turnaround time, delivering the photos within a few days, always less than a week.
- I pay close attention to detail when shooting and also when editing so the final photos delivered have a polished and professional look.
- I use professional camera equipment, including prime lenses, to ensure high quality resolution photographs.
