Q&As

Party goers see photo booths as an informal fun, easy going way to produce memorable shots at an event. And event hosts feel much the same way! A good booth is equipped with a quality camera and good lighting to produce sharp, well-lit images that the guest can take away with them as a hard copy, within moments of it being taken. Having the facility to upload to social media in real time is another benefit, especially in the eyes of the generation who are avid social media users! My Booth-in-a-box compact photo booth does all of this and is attended by experienced staff to help everything run smoothly.

Booth-in-a-box comes with a hamper full of props and accessories such as hats, helmets, moustaches, glasses and more to help customers create fun-filled images. Where space is at a premium Booth in a Box can be a 'bare' selfie pod. But where more space is available, a stylish inflatable enclosure can be provided to create a real focal point to your event or celebration.
In both cases we can upload to social media as well as provide prints for both you (in a guest book) and your guests.

Great photographs are less about the technical aspects - in this day and age there's really no excuse for out of focus or badly exposed images - and more about choosing the moment to press the shutter. In almost every case that will involve some knowledge of the subject, be that a sport, an animal or an individual as that will help to determine the 'right' moment for the subject.
Master photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson said “Of course it’s all luck.” but I find the better I know the subject, the luckier I get!

I'm a firm believer in planning for every eventuality to ensure a successful outcome, so I'll always ask a lot of when and where type questions to establish the running order, timescales for the project and fallback options for bad weather (especially important for wedding photography!). Most of my projects involve photographing people and I therefore need to get to know the subject well enough to develop some sort of rapport and put them at their ease. So after the basic when where how questions, I'll have a conversation to get at what makes the subject tick.

I love interacting with people and when it's a happy occasion - weddings usually are! - it's great to be a part of an event that means so much to people. And afterwards when I show customers the proofs, I love the reactions you get. It's very satisfying to know that you've captured the essence of a couples day.

Most, if not all, professional photographers have an enthusiasm for capturing images that turns into an occupation, very few do it as 'just a job'. In my case my enthusiasm for images combined with an equal enthusiasm for live music to start taking performance images of musicians. The resulting images were the start of a portfolio that lead to commissions in more general people photography and the opportunity to make a living out of my enthusiasm. And I still take photos just for fun.

I'm friendly and personable, both qualities that I feel are important for a people photographer. But I also work hard to ensure that whatever the shoot is, everything will run smoothly and the client will get quality images at an affordable price. And if you need a quick turnaround that's no problem either. I can get first proofs from a wedding to you in less than a week under normal circumstances.
