Kolin is not only a talented musician, but a very talented teacher as well. In the first lessons I had with him, Kolin took the time to understand what I could already do, learn about the music I like to play, and could identify quickly a way for me to progress with my playing. His enthusiasm and patience are truly encouraging for me as a learner who lacks confidence. He doesn't mind at all how many times he has to show me something, whether it's a chord sequence or simply how to hold the guitar (I have some unlearning of bad habits to master!). Kolin knows when to "push" me a little (thinking bar chords here!), but also when to "ease off", so that I can leave my lesson feeling I've achieved something, rather than feeling "I can't do it". My guitar lessons may only be an hour long, but the "feel good factor" stays with me for days. I have resisted taking lessons over the years, but am so pleased I took the plunge with Kolin, and not only would I recommend him to others, but I've already booked some summer holiday lessons with him for my 13 year-od son because I was really impressed with how he engaged with him when I took him along to one of my lessons, and I know that my son will enjoy it and also make good progress with some new tracks.
