Why is it so important for businesses to hire a great accountant?
Business owners can often be heard to say that they cannot afford an accountant or that they think an accountant is just there to fill out forms to keep the tax man happy. An accountant is much more than that, and finding the right accountant will not only save you time and money but she or he will also help you to grow your business.
Your time is best spent doing what you’re good at. If you have a very simple business then you can probably complete most of the forms yourself. But will you be completing them correctly? Will you be getting them in on time?
If you miss a deadline for important documents, such as submitting company accounts to HMRC, then you can face quite heavy fines.
If you incorrectly complete a document then the best case scenario is that it’ll be sent back to you to do again. The worst case scenario is that it’s sent back to you in the hands of a tax inspector who wants to pore over every single piece of paper.
So therefore we would always recommend you seek professional advice from the start.
What do you love most about your job?
I love my job as I am able to bring my industry and practice experience to help individuals maximise their profits and help them to grow their business. When taking my school exams I originally wanted to go into Human Resources and accidentally fell into accountancy by default, since then I have not looked back and enjoy meeting new clients to hear their inspirational stories and how best we can work together and maybe have some fun along the way.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I had been employed for a fair few years till one day I realized that the only thing I was doing was actually building others' dreams. I had a steady fixed income each month, that's great when you start a career, but I'm a dreamer and a visionary myself and I always knew I was destined for something great. I halted for a second to understand how the world works and it was time for reversing the equation. In the Real World you either be an entrepreneur, or you work for one. On that day I decided to take my industry and practice experience to build my own dream.
