How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
If the structure is sound and there isn't any damp issues then we can usually make something happen. Also would need sufficient headroom to allow some form of insulation on the floor.
How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
Usually you would be looking to make sure there is sufficient height to the ridge line. Ideally around 2.5mtrs
Run us through the different stages in the loft conversion process - what’s involved?
Depending on the kind of loft normally we would try and do the majority of work before we break through for the staircase. Obviously every project can be different but this would be a rough guide of how we would approach a job. All the time ensuring the existing property remains watertight.
For a terraced house something like this.
1. Scaffold up and start to prep the space.
2. install any beams to support the floor the put floor joists in.
3. Build the dormer and get the structure weather proof.
4. internal partitions then first fix plumbing and elecs.
5. break through for new stairs.
6. plasterboarding and skiming.
7. 2nd fix works.
8. decorating.
How long have you been in business?
I've been in the industry for 26 years. Having recently taken the plunge to start my own firm. I can understand that may be an issue for some people but we can assure you that the clients ideas and concerns are our utmost importance.
