Excellent service and excellent value! We experienced a fantastic service from Jon at JNL Design. After coming out to our property, he gave great advice and spent time with us discussing out options and ideas. He then drew a set of plans that allowed further discussion with the builder. After this, he took care of our planning permission application and was extremely helpful at liaising with Cheshire planning. Highly recommend Jon for both quality and price. More...

Jon designed and did all the necessary requirements for a build of a single storey extension to our house. He put forward some very good ideas and produced some very clear plans. He also followed through from start to finish without fuss with local authority to attain planning permission and building regulations. Nothing was too much trouble and he kept in constant contact how everything was progressing. This was also not straight forward as it was for a disable build which required extra input More...

JNL Design were extremely helpful in organising plans for our initial single storey extension back in 2010 hence we have now returned to JNL Design for the second storey plans for a 4th bedroom with balcony. Superb service throughout and kept us fully informed throughout the planning permission and building regulation process. Everything has been agreed in a very timely manner due to the quality of the plans submitted. More...

Q&As

Most garages can be converted - planning permission is rarely required (although Building Regulations are needed) but you do need to be aware that all external walls, the floor and roof (if it has one) have to be insulated to a living standard. It is a good way of obtaining additional living space at a reasonable cost.

1. There is the initial site visit and measure up of the garage and adjoining rooms; then back at the office the garage would be drawn up as an existing drawing .
2. A proposed drawing would be made, shown to the client and then submitted to either the local Building Control Authority or third party Building Control company.
3. Liaising with Building Control throughout the procedure, any amendments made and the Approval Notice given to the clients at the end.
4. Paper copies are given to the client at submission time and at the end (if amendments made or requests by the client for further copies).

Meeting the clients at their homes and running through their design ideas, hopefully coming in with a few of my own to help them . You don't have to be an Architect or Designer to come up with a good idea.
