With the relaxation in reporting requirements and the fact that many business no longer need to have their accounts audited, it's easy to fall into a trap whereby the accounts become a less important part of the operations. This can be dangerous as you still have a responsibility to file correct accounts and to produce accurate VAT Returns and Corporation Tax numbers. Not only that, but your accounts are an integral part of your business planning and can provide crucial information about your business's health both now and for future strategy.

Most people don't want to spend their time doing the bookkeeping and accounts and it's a waste of their talents when they could be using resources to generate sales, manage operations and guide the business forward. That's where I come in. I do want to spend my time doing bookkeeping and accounts!

I love the variety of people I come across and the diversity of the work itself. I might spend a morning doing some Balance Sheet reconcilations, half the afternoon setting up a payroll and the rest of the day helping someone formulate a business plan to drive their company forward or secure financing. The only problem is that it's hard to leave it behind when I close for the day and I tend to still be figuring out new strategies and plans late into the evening, but that's really because I enjoy doing it and I care deeply about the success of my clients.

I qualified as an accountant many years ago and, since then, have done a great deal of contract work for companies ranging from small ones you might not have heard of to large enterprises like Dixons, Tesco, Premier Foods and The Open University. Every time I started a new contract, it felt like an adventure, meeting new people, figuring out new solutions and, later, getting that incredible sense of achievement when it all came together.

I recently studied and achieved an MBA. The last module was called, "Making the Difference" and it hit me that's exactly what I want to do. I'm passionate about business and starting my own company was the best way I could get out there into the market and make a difference in helping other businesses.

My obvious attributes are my qualifications and my experience, but I hope that I go a long way beyond that. My passion for helping and getting things right make me a good choice as I won't bury difficult issues but will do my absolute best to find solutions. I'm friendly, approachable and easygoing and understand that while your accounts might be my priority you have a million other things to do. That means I'll do my best to let you get on with what you're best at while I deal with the numbers.
