Dog Training

Very professional and very knowledgeable. A real way with dogs, got ours to behave for her immediately. Jana taught us how to deal with the problems we were having. We can now let our dogs off the lead without worry and we are seeing much improvement with not pulling on the lead. We are still working on the barking but hopefully we can get this under control with Jana’s help More...

Jana has helped us with our rather wayward and opinionated Welsh Terrier since he was a puppy. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience both about dog health and behaviour and uses this in her training techniques. Jana also has a thorough understanding of specific breeds and what to expect for them. Setting expectations and knowing the best way to incentivise individual dogs to get the optimal result. I would highly recommend Jana as would our dog who is always thrilled to see her! More...

We took our 12 week old cockerpoo Koji to Jana as he was incredibly nervous.
He was often awake for up to 24 hours as he was struggling to settle and suffering with separation anxiety.
Jana came to asses him at home and came up with a programme to get him settled , sleeping and work with his anxiety.
After 5 days he was like a different puppy , sleeping overnight, much calmer and understanding basic commands such as sit , come , down , off , leave it etc
He was also able to be off the lead in safe spaces.
He became more social with other dogs.
Jana was available to talk to at any time if I had concerns and also gave me nutritional advice for Koji
It was lovely to see the bond she built with him and how happy he was in her care.
I would absolutely recommend her service and will use her again in the future.

Words cannot explain the gratitude we have towards Jana. Since having our 2 pups, Jana has guided us each and every step of the way.
As a family we have learned everything there was needed to learn and some... and the boys have now settled in our home. No more chewing, barking and recall is excellent.
A big THANK YOU!!! x

My family got a new French Bulldog puppy, but we had no idea how to raise him to fit in with our family life and routines. Jana guided my whole family (me, husband and two teens) on how to care for our puppy and how to train him. Besides about six in-person training sessions, Jana was available on the phone to answer all our questions and even offered advice when we had the odd emergency (wasp sting on the mouth). It was like having an expert hold our hands and guide us through that critical first year. Our puppy is now 1 yr old, and I've recently had friends feedback that they've never come across such an easy, happy, playful Frenchie. I credit Jana with helping us raise our pup to be the best family dog ever. Jana is still helping us, taking our pup once a week to reinforce training and offering advice where needed. She's simply amazing, you can't go wrong with Jana. More...

I started using Jana's services 7 years ago, and more recently with my newer addition. Jana has a natural talent and not just with my Cockerpoo's, but also with me.
Jana is extremely patient and very caring, but also methodical with clear instructions to me.
I think simplicity is definitely the art of training, uncomplicated advice which I personally needed. I knew very little until we met Jana. Thank you for helping to make our lives a complete joy. I cannot recommend Jana enough. 10/10

Q&As

Every dog and every family I work with is unique. I love the challenge every new case brings. I love seeing all dogs fulfilling their potential and owners realising the strength and the power of the human-companion animal bond.
Every time I see a boisterous, naughty puppy turning into well mannered member of the family I feel I helped to create a happy pack that will learn and grow together. Every time I see the progress of a “problem dog” and bring a family from the bring of despair back to peaceful harmony, see the smile on their faces and know that this dog will not end up in the shelter, it makes me happy.
Every time I help a dog that have been mistreated in the past to gain trust in people and build their confidence it lifts my spirits and restores my faith in humanity.

Working in veterinary behaviour and nutrition field, developing programs and supporting research studies at veterinary universities in the UK I had a chance to work alongside veterinary behaviour experts at the time this field was very new.
I realised how much difference we can make if we can communicate effectively with our pets and use positive motivation to train them rather than just impose our will on them through fear.

When I had my own children, I struggled with the usual issues all working parents do. I needed to understand how to talk so the kids would listen. My amazing communication coach Laura helped me to do just that. I learned how to understand the needs of those around me and create win- win solutions.
Working in my veterinary practice I realised these methods can be easily applied when dealing with “difficult” dogs.
I started running behaviour clinics as part of our veterinary practice and as the demand for my services increased I set up a separate business focusing on veterinary behaviour.

Most of my previous clients came to me through referrals and recommendations, but as times change I chose Bark to help me to adapt my business to the needs of the current times.

I talk so the dogs can listen, I listen so the dogs can talk.
Every dog has a different personality and every family has a different needs. But we all need to feel safe, nourished and loved. When I start to work with a new client, I don’t just follow a specific training program. My aim is to understand the needs of each family member (humans, dogs and other....) and bringing them together through a combination of coaching, training and behavioural modifications.

Through the years of experience, training and observations I learned how to “talk so dogs will listen, and listen so the dog can talk”. I want to help any dog owner that wants to learn to do the same.

My ultimate goal with every pack is to bring structure and harmony and through this joy and happiness....
....“Because a happier pet makes a happier family”....

I offer an initial video consultation. Based on the extend of the problem and the time the owners can invest I can than tailor my program specifically to their needs. Some issues can be solved through a series of video consultations. Some require working outside in public spaces and parks, which I can offer on one to one basis, following the government guidelines on social distancing.
More extensive issues require at home training. As I currently can not work at your home, I offer a home stay program as an alternative. Your dog spends several days at my family home as part of our pack. I focus on eliminating unwanted behaviours and establishing the behaviour trades that are required, than provide coaching and video tutorials that help the owners keep the positive habits working in their home.

I can wear shield if requested. I sterilise my hands at regular intervals when working with my clients.
All outdoor training is now done following social distancing guidelines. Fortunately the 2m distance does not apply to dogs so I can still work with your dog hands on.
I use my own lead and collar so I don’t have to touch anything of yours. Any new training tools I provide for you are in unopened packaging and packaging sterilised for you.
When traditionally I would work with my clients in their home, I now ask for video recordings so I can analyse problem with my clients remotely. As an alternative to this service I now offer training/ rehabilitation “board and train” programs.

Services

Helping new owners with setting the right home routine, sleep training, toilet training, learning the basic obedience commands, walking on and of the lead, and most importantly helping the puppy with experiencing wide range of social interactions in the correct way.
I can also advice on nutrition, health care and socialisation.

The guide cost of the training courses: individual home visit consultation £75, puppy training program £300 for 5 sessions over 5-6 weeks, £500 for boards and train program.

Does your dog bark at you every time you open the fridge? Pulls on the lead? Chews your favourite shoes and your expensive furniture? Jumps on the strangers when you are walking in the park? Growls at anyone knocking on your door? Won’t come back when called?
Most behavioural issues come from the breakdown of communication between the dog and the owner. My rehabilitation programs are based on win-win coaching techniques. I can help to identify the underlying cause of the issue and help you to eliminate the unwanted behaviours. My aim is to bring harmony and happiness back to your family.

When dogs have a hard start in life and/ or aren’t socialised properly in the first 3 months of their life, they can become weary of anything new, anxious, fearful and potentially aggressive.
My rehabilitation program uses positive motivation, behavioural modification and with help of my CALM massage technique it helps your dog to restore confidence and trust and to start new chapter in their life.

My services range from a single face to face consultation to 2 week board and train program. The price will depend on the number of sessions you and your dog will need, to achieve the goals we set together. I offer a free video consultation to better understand your requirements and a personality of your dog. I will be able to suggest the program most suitable for you, so you know how much the whole training will cost upfront. The most popular puppy training program is set over the period of 5-8 weeks and costs £300.
