I have been a working Jai for four months now, following a period of personal challenges involving procrastination, low self esteem , and neglecting my own needs. During this time, I've made significant progress toward my goals, resulting in a sense of fulfillment. It's refreshing to encounter someone genuine who listens, offers support, and empathizes with others' struggles, assisting them in overcoming their weaknesses. Thank you More...

Couples Counselling

It was an excellent experience working with Jai, He really listened, drawing us out where necessary, and responded. His input was very helpful, compared to counsellors we had previously experienced who just sat there, and his comments enabled us to move forward, settle issues and feel upbuilt.

Jai has been a pleasure to offload to… he has a great deal of understanding and humility and really helped me through one of the worst experiences of my life so far. . his warmth makes it easy to talk to and he really relates to each and every situation. I feel as though I have made a true friend out of this. He is flexible and genuinely wants to help people, I would recommend to anyone who is struggling to come to terms with anything at all. jai has been absolutely wonderful to me. Meeting up in a pub but very private. Never felt that someone would listen to me or what I would say. Also I enjoyed the fact that I was able to have a deep meaningful conversation in a less formal way by enjoying the comfort of a hot drink. I felt I was being understood and listened. I am now a much happier person and i feel things are getting better in my life.
Thank you Jai

Relationship and Marriage Counselling

As a married couple we have been working with Jai for a and can honestly say it is a blessing to have come across him. Initially, one of us was especially sceptical about using a counsellor to guide us through some of the issues we faces in our marriage and communicating with each other, however from our first conversation with Jai both of us were immediately at ease.

Speaking to Jai is literally like talking to a concerned and friend. He is a great listener, always impartial and great at being firm with us when needed, especially in times when one of us has an issue with taking responsibility when we should.

Jai is helping us identify the root causes of the problems in our marriage and has been great at guiding us towards workable solutions. He has a knack for always seeming to understand both points of view, while still being able to recognise where responsibility lies and what can be improved between us as a couple to avoid future conflict. He even has the ability to make us laugh at times when we have literally wanted to throttle one another.

We can see that Jai has a genuine interest in helping people. For example, there was a time when we came to the end of a session and one of us was still heated and Jai continued the session to help us reach a better place before leaving him. He even takes time to reach out to us outside of sessions to see how we are doing.

One of the things that makes Jai great at what he does is his wealth of knowledge and experience.

If you want a relationship or individual counsellor who genuinely cares about the people he works with and is invested in helping people improve their lives, then I recommend Jai without hesitation – we never feel like we are talking to a counsellor, more like a mentor and friend.

Thank you, Jai, for all the work you have done with us to date.

Hi Jai,
I just wanted to say a huge thank you to you for all your help and advice, I feel so so much better than I did back in February! I can't believe I recently confronted a parent - something I never thought I would do! I found role playing situations really helpful, and that is something I've carried on to do.
I was struggling to sleep before I came to you due to anxiety and its been incredible to sleep soundly at night!

The videos and books you've recommended to me have also been amazing, it's strangely comforting to know its not just me going through these situations! I have continued to use these resources and I know they'll help me in the future.

I came to you for help with toxic parents, but you helped me with a range of other things, such as understanding the process of purchasing a house and helping with excessive drinking, so a huge thank you for that too!

Even my friends have noticed a difference in me - I'm more relaxed and positive now. You really helped me to put things into perspective, for example looking at a situation from another point of view, and this has really shaped how I interact and think about situations. I will continue to protect my inner child, I found this technique very powerful.

Very grateful for the recordings too, as you know I loved the meditation so glad I can still use those videos going forward.

I would definitely consider coming to you in the future, and would highly recommend you!

Jai has helped me in so many different aspects - not just in what I initially went to him for, but with so many other situations too. He really listens and gives great advice. We sometimes role play an upcoming situation I'm anxious about which really prepares me and takes the anxiety away. I'm looking forward to having more sessions, I could feel a difference after our first session, and even my friends noticed a difference in me and said I'm a lot more relaxed! Thank you, Jai! Relationship and Marriage Counselling

Recently started seeing Jai with my wife to start working through some issues we have.
He's been super helpful just getting us to start talking to each other again in a meaningful way.
He is really friendly, has a good sense of humour and just puts us at ease like we're talking with an old friend, while still being impartial. Yeah, generally he's just been really helpful!

If you are reading Jai’s profile and reading his reviews, apprehensive about whether or not to take the dive; my advice would be to 100% do it.

Jai has been mentoring me for close to 2 months now, and in just that short span of time - my life, my whole approach to life and the way I see life has started to shift. Jai does not promise ‘quick fixes’; instead he takes the time to listen to you so that realistic and actionable goals can be established.

I want to take a brief paragraph to really express that Jai does listen to you. He doesn’t put on the illusion of listening, he genuinely takes the time to understand your issues and thoughts. He remembers something you briefly mentioned weeks ago, and brings it up in connection with something you are talking about in the current session. He discusses topics with you at a deep meaningful level, not just to a surface level.

The approach Jai takes to mentoring is one of realism. He does not expect unrealistic results. He emphasizes the importance of small, incremental changes to achieve something greater. All too often in life, we are told stories of someone going from zero to hero seemingly overnight; this puts an unrealistic version of reality in our minds. Jai helps with becoming someone who takes action, not just someone who observes other people taking action.

Just this past session, I have already begun to take much greater responsibility when it comes to my finances. I have slashed my monthly debt repayments in half; all within an hour session. Now, I am not saying that Jai will be able to do this for you no problem - as every persons issues are nuanced. However, I am just giving it as an example of how powerful having someone like Jai in your life can be.

My one piece of advice, however, is that you have to be prepared to put the work in. Jai can only do so much, he can guide you, show you resources and help plan. However, you have to be the one to execute, and to keep executing over and over again. If you can dedicate the time, then there is no telling how much someone like Jai can help.

That may sound daunting, but with the help of Jai - it really isn’t!

If you are looking for a mentor who will truly listen to you. A mentor who will truly understand where you are coming from, and where you want to go. Jai is 100% your man

Not many people, including family members and mates have the care and patience that Jai has for me in my life. He’s encouraged me to slow down and begin to look inward. To be truthful with myself and not to be scared of judgement from peers which has been a big fear of mine from childhood. Jai’s helped me value myself, to put my best foot forward and continue to increase my potential daily. Thank you Jai. More...

2 December 2021

I dreamed of having a mentor for a long time. I saw a mentor as someone in my career field who would be like a guardian, giving advice and support as I developed my career. I had mental health struggles during my studies and was lucky enough to get one year of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, which involved a combination of group therapy and one to one sessions with a psychiatrist. After the course finished I was much improved but the skills I learnt quickly dissipated and I found a new slightly better normal.

Years later I finally qualified as an Architect. The stress of studying was removed, but facing the reality of being an architect, I felt lost. I struggled to find meaning in what I spent 14 years striving for. I struggled to live a life that didn’t match up to expectations I barely knew I had. My sister introduced me to a book by Stephen Covey, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Although meaningful, I struggled to commit to working through it. That’s when I joined the Lighthouse International 7 Habits reading group and soon got mentoring with Jai.

My experience of mentoring over the last year has been eye, heart and mind opening. It’s been incredible to experience developing an open, caring, stable relationship with someone. To feel supported but know that this person will see through my lies. To again and again have the person show care when others in my past (parents, teachers, leaders) would have scolded.

Being mentored has been like having an older and wiser brother guide me by supporting me in choosing my path and helping me pause and see for myself when I am going wrong. The process has been a combination of working on my life vision (relationships, career, service etc) and digging into how I see myself and the roots of my self limiting beliefs.

Over the past year, the level of direction has become less but the support has grown where I need it most, for example having accountability check-ins to help me get the things I want to do done. The way Jai (my mentor) and I have worked together has been organic and driven by what I want to focus on and related areas.

Being mentored by Jai has been more powerful because of having The 7 Habits as the foundation. The 7 Habits are based on natural laws, unchangeable principles that are the framework of nature and life processes. Having a mentor who is working and growing based on the same principles I’m striving for, is like having an agreement in the way we work together.

Every day I’m learning that being truly open and honest with yourself, then sharing honestly with your mentor is the key to continued growth. This is also the most challenging part of mentorship. There have been areas I have struggled to examine alone, let alone share, discuss and be open to external input. Doing this again and again has helped me know myself better and value myself more.

How has mentoring changed my life? I have been empowered to make changes externally. I have learnt to stand up for myself, fighting and over-turning parking tickets, requesting and getting pay rises (even during lockdown when staff were furloughed), standing up to my family and setting boundaries in personal relationships. The biggest change has been internal. It's amazing how your world view changes when you start clearing the emotional gunk from your mind, heart and spirit. Before mentorship, when I caught a glimpse of my potential I felt small and overwhelmed. Now I feel excited and can see practical steps to achieving my dream of serving communities in rural Africa through architecture.

Q&As

The growth I experience myself and at the same time seeing someone I care for and have worked with for a period of time breaking through in an area they struggle with. Like standing up for themselves or getting the promotion they wanted.

I was mentored, coached and counselled myself from the age of 24 for the last 14 years. I had a pretty difficult upbringing and I found people I could trust who guided me. I changed so much from the experience that I want other people to have the same thing. I feel it's my duty to pass on what I received. Especially to young people.

I'm not here to convince or sell anyone on my mentoring, coaching and counselling services. I believe if there is a natural connection and a resonance then things will unfold naturally. The foundation for a good mentoring and coaching relationship is that there is a mutual bond with the person both ways. That needs to be there for trust to be built.
