Spent Friday and Saturday night at this hotel||Hotel is pretty basic||Could do with a good upgrade||However in saying that the hotel||was cosy and warm. Very comfortable, conveniently located in Camarthen - easy to get to and from, warm rooms and good facilities in the room. The real triumph was fresh, hot, good food for breakfast on HOT plates as well as piping hot coffee! Service was quick and friendly and they have Guinness on draft in the bar. We have used the Ivy Bush before and have always been happy. This time we wanted a room for one night so booked a basic twin. As with all old hotels rooms can be a little quirky and ours had quite a small window but it was fully equiped, fairly well maintained and spotlessly clean. ||We eat in the bar and got generous helpings of good food. Breakfast was self service, typical of this type of hotel, and properly cooked with a good selection.||The public areas were clean and well presented. The hotel is quite old fashioned and does need some decorating but clean,comfortable and good value for money||There was another coach party staying at the hotel and the first night at dinner was disorganised,some people had finished eating while others waited to have orders taken. We were in the restaurant for two hours and a member of staff commented that the kitchen staff were waiting to get everything cleared away.This was clearly not due to the guests who were waiting for food.||The food was poor quality,the veg all mushy on our table while others complained theirs was rock hard, and we wondered how we would cope for the duration of the stay.||However,our coach driver spoke to management and the turnaround was incredible.||From then on the meals were well organised,good hot food and varied menus.The staff were efficient and friendly so well done to all.||||Breakfast was a buffet system,food well cooked and hot,plenty of choices.||||I would gladly return to this hotel. Stayed at this hotel 3 times now, just this year alone, wouldn’t go back if it didn’t meet my expectations.||||Very clean, great location, excellent staff (friendly and very helpful), good parking, hotel offers brillant services dinner, bar ect. ||||Yes the rooms are a little dated but all the beds are very comfortable and shower pressure and bathroom space is excellent. ||||Have had problems, spoke to a member of staff and all was sorted right away. This is a good standard hotel at reasonable prices. Bedrooms and extensive public rooms are clean and pleasant; food good; staff excellent, friendly and helpful. Very good sized car park. Good to have free wi-fi without complicated login procedure, but it was sometimes quite slow. Could do with a better lift. ||My one complaint: the hotel claims to be dog-friendly, but IT DEFINITELY IS NOT! Yes, for a small fee you can keep a dog in your room but there is not even a small place within the very extensive dining areas set aside for people to eat in the company of their dog. Of course, you could have room service, but the room was not well set up for that. Pity, will not be staying there again because it was otherwise a pleasant, affordable hotel. More...

Long walk to the room. Comfy big bed (for one) but I couldn’t have a shower as it was over a very high-sided bath with no grab handles. A mat was provided, but no use if you cannot get into the bath.||Staff were very friendly and helpful, especially on check-out, when they agreed with me that over £20 for 3 glasses of wine was exhorbitant, and suggested that if I came again I brought my own.||Food was well cooked, with tasty sauces and portions were just right. A decent stay. With a week of all-outdoor activities planned, we had to call off two planned trips due to bad weather, then at short notice a week of fine weather materialised. Although the Ivy Bush wasn’t able to provide a twin room for the entire week at short notice due to being heavily booked, we were able to get two single rooms for one night with a twin room for the rest of the time. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and welcoming, and made the stay as seamless as possible in the circumstances.||||Although some reviews allude to dated decor, yes it is reminiscent of a particular era, but in our experience everything was clean, functional and in good repair. Bed was comfortable and with good quality sheets. Breakfast was decent with a spacious breakfast room and helpful staff.||||Hotel is well located within Carmarthen, and a great base for all of west Wales. Plenty of car parking so don’t have to worry about coming back late and struggling to find a space.||||All in all stay was an excellent experience and good value-for-money, would definitely stay again. We have made several overnight stays at this hotel when we have been visiting friends and family in this my home town. |As always the check in was easy. Reception staff made us feel very welcome. The beauty of this hotel is its very central location and ample car parking which the stay very relaxing. We had a standard double room. Whilst the decor is a little dated it was very clean and tidy with an enormous and very comfortable bed. Tea and coffee making facilities were ample. |Our deal included breakfast. Great hotel and fab location. Receptionist was very warm and friendly. Bar and lounge area was comfortable with plenty of room to relax. Easy to find with plenty of parking. The staff we came across were professional, helpful and friendly. Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was self service with a variety of cooked or healthy food.
