As a cognitive behavioural therapist, what I love most about my job is the ability to help people overcome their challenges and improve their mental health and well-being. It's incredibly rewarding to witness clients making progress and achieving their goals, no matter how small or big.

I also appreciate the opportunity to work collaboratively with clients, creating a safe and supportive environment where they feel comfortable discussing their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Seeing clients develop a greater understanding of themselves and their emotions is incredibly fulfilling.

Finally, as a therapist, I am constantly learning and growing, both personally and professionally. This ongoing process of self-reflection and improvement helps me provide the best possible care to my clients.

Initially, it was the desire to provide personalised, high-quality care to clients while maintaining control over the therapy process. By having my own practice, I can ensure that each client receives individualised attention and care, tailored to their specific needs and goals.

Additionally, owning my own business allows me the flexibility to create a therapeutic environment that aligns with my values and therapeutic approach. This allows me to prioritise client-centred care and offer a supportive and non-judgemental space for clients to work on their mental health and well-being.

Starting my own business also provides me with the opportunity to collaborate with other mental health professionals and continue to learn and grow as a therapist. I bring a wealth of knowledge and skills to my practice. Throughout my career, I have primarily worked with adults, gaining valuable experience in understanding their unique needs and learning styles (which applies massively in therapy).

My experience in teaching has also allowed me to develop strong communication and interpersonal skills, which are essential in creating a positive and collaborative therapeutic relationship with my clients. I understand the importance of effective communication in fostering a trusting and supportive environment, which enables clients to feel comfortable discussing their concerns and working towards their goals.

Furthermore, my background has taught me the importance of being patient, empathetic, and understanding towards those I work with. These qualities are equally important in my work as a therapist, as they enable me to provide the compassionate and individualised care that my clients deserve.

I am able to work remotely, and although I offer this as a service, I do prefer to work in-person wherever I am able to.
