Q&As

I genuinely believe it is an absolute privilege to work alongside people and be trusted to help them overcome their difficulties. I find it very rewarding to see people progress and improve their lives.

I have worked for a range of organisations. I am now ready to develop my practice further by working independently, alongside my current role within the NHS.

I have a great deal of specialist knowledge, skills and experience in helping adults, children and young people overcome their difficulties. I have worked within the helping professions for over 20 years, working solely as a therapist for 16 years. I worked as a senior therapist in the charitable sector for 5 years; helping children and young people overcome their experiences of sexual abuse and other traumatic events. I also provided therapeutic support to the parents and carers of the children and young people. For the past 11 years I have worked within NHS mental health teams as a senior clinician, therapist, clinical supervisor and trainer.

I have a post graduate diploma in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and post graduate certificate in clinical supervision. I also have a diploma in person-centred counselling. The primary focus of my therapeutic practice is CBT, but I can work creatively to adopt a more flexible approach of this is what clients need and want. Working flexibly is particularly important when working with children and young people.

My clients tell me I am very easy to get along with and talk to. My relaxed, friendly manner helps people relax and develop trusting working relationships. I have had many positive outcomes within my clinical practice and clients stated they found my support very helpful.

My clinical supervisees tell me they value my knowledge and experience, which has helped them maintain and develop their therapeutic practice. They like the way I provide advice and guidance in non-critical supportive ways. Working therapeutically with clients is emotionally challenging; therefore the restorative function of supervision is really important. Supervisees tell me they find the emotional support I provide within supervision very helpful.
