It's amazing working with James, not only is his knowledge around training really in depth, but he is also a lovely person. I've been training with James at Hybrid Athletes for 2 years. I started at the age of 50 and was sceptical about what I could achieve as an older adult having been considerably overweight for much of my adult life. I've lost a significant amount of body fat and am fitter and stronger now in my 50's than I ever was as a young man. (E.g. my barbell deadlift has gone from 90kg to 185kg.) My health has improved particularly with regard to lowered blood pressure and cessation of knee pain due to osteoarthritis. James' PT sessions are challenging and he excels at high intensity training which gets results. James has often gone the extra mile to support me through my training when I've had periods of self doubt, something I particularly appreciate as years of obesity left me with little confidence or self esteem. James has a real passion for his vocation as a trainer and I highly recommend training with him. Be prepared to work hard, but that's what it takes to make the changes you want to achieve. More...

I have a huge passion for helping people achieve something they never thought was possible.

From the ages of 12-16 I was a part of The Plymouth Argyle Youth Academy, where I then proceeded to play semi-professional football. Unfortunately, at the age of 20, I ruptured my Anterior Cruciate Ligament in my left knee which left me unable to play for just over 2 years. My knee required reconstructive surgery followed by an NHS rehabilitation program, through this experience I had learned to appreciate the gravity and importance of Strength and Conditioning. The impact of this incident helped me to realise that working to improve someone else’s health and wellbeing had a very rewarding outcome.
To facilitate my ambitions, I then decided to par take in several courses to develop my knowledge further within the industry. The content of information was very complex resulting in receiving a high level of understanding about the body. I proceeded to take my knowledge further and study methods of coaching and how to train individuals. Throughout studying I learned how to apply what I had learnt in a classroom environment to a working environment.
