One night stay - quick check in, lovely clean bright room, had drinks in the bar on the afternoon and found staff struggling to cope, ordered three plates of food for £12. 50 and took ages to arrive, dinner was booked for 7.30 for ten people and was fine apart from the waiter mixed up medium/ rare steak for medium/well. All three courses were very nice however. You can tell the staff are finding their feet but I think in time this will get better. Breakfast was quick service and very nice however took a long while for friends to get theirs. Checkout was quick but but took a while to get out of car park due to the laundry van blocking the exit which made my husband late for a meeting. We will return and try again as the hotel is very nice and teething troubles may be sorted. More...

The hotel and our room was beautiful and the staff very friendly-would give it 5 stars if there had been some hand soap in the bathroom and there was some decent coffee in the room !!

Had a fantastic stay at Hotel indigo Durham. From the moment of checking in the staff were so helpful and knowledgeable about the area. I thought the rooms were outstanding and finished to a really high standard.
We found our first room to be a little noisy (it was a bank holiday weekend) the front desk staff changed us immediately to a quieter room with absolutely no problems, as parents of young children away for a child free night this silence was golden and much appreciated.
I can't wait to go back. Highly recommend staying here.

We called into the hotel coffee shop and that gave you the first impression that here was a great hotel. Ok it’s new however the standard of the front of house was excellent. The corridor down to the toilet was lush and the toiletries in the room were top class.
We looked around the bar and restaurant area and the staff were very friendly with loads of chat about the hotel.
From our first impression the Durham Hotel Indigo is up theee with the very best in the area.
Well done everyone involved in the hotel project you have delivered.

Lovely experience at the restaurant. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We were some of the first people in so the food arrived quickly but there was no rush between the starter and the main. The room itself was great, it was nice to dine in a different setting. Would recommend to others. More...

Building is stunning, food was fine but was expecting a little better in way of presentation ,but taste was good. Ruth our waitress was a star, nothing was any trouble for her and she made the day for me.

We booked an Afternoon Tea, on arrival we we’re asked to take a seat in the bar. 20 mins laters we were asked if we had a booking - we had been forgotten about! ! Then we were seated and had to wait again, another 15 mins for the food. Nevertheless, the Afternoon Tea was delicious and the staff were very apologietic. The renovation is top notch. However, I’m a stickler for the cheeky (albeit optional) service charge added to the bill! More...

Visited for a meal, service was fantastic! We were well looked after during our time in the restaurant. Very friendly and chatty service throughout. (I believe she was called Stacy)
Food was also great, and we didn't have a long wait for food, although we were some of the first in for the sitting.
It was lovely to sit in the restaurant and enjoy the gorgeous room.
Will definitely be back again!

Absolutely awesome hotel and staff, couldn’t have asked for anything more. We had 3 rooms all immaculate with spacious and good showers in. We are now looking at dates on when to come again.
Really want to mention Novita for the breakfast service, Kelly for the amazing quick bar service and Kev the night manager for the excellent welcome and help. Thanks again

Absolutely beautiful hotel. Seamless experience from booking to check out. Room was spacious and spotlessly clean, with a view of the cathedral. Staff couldn’t do enough for you and even offered a complimentary late checkout. Restaurant was fully booked for the evening but breakfast was lovely - will be back to try for an evening meal. Right on my doorstep, but can’t wait to stay again! 100% recommend. More...

What a fantastic find. Probably one of the best hotels we've stayed in. The staff are the happiest and so friendly. Katie on reception and Stacey at breakfast, thank you for making our stay even more special. The decor is amaising. Rooms are beautiful and beds are extremely comfortable. Huge bathroom and the rain shower was a pleasant surprise. Breakfast was lovely, nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be visiting again. More...

Afternoon tea for my mams birthday. Arrived and greeted by a lovely smiley face. The restaurant is beautiful and comfortable. Our waitress Ruth was happy, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent with unlimited tea/coffee. We didn't realise we had been there for 3hrs we were so relaxed. We chatted to Ruth about holidays and she have us some advice on future trips. She was very knowlegable and obviously well travelled. Her enthusiasm for her diners was lovely she made us feel at home. She also discussed future dining with us and due to her friendliness we booked for Sunday lunch. Thank you for making my mams birthday extra special More...

Went for a meal and was amazed at how beautiful the place is! I arrived earlier than my friends but was made to feel really comfortable by a waitress called Coleen while I waited for them in the Rotunda bar, which was absolutely gorgeous. We really enjoyed our meal, which was made all the more special because there was a really good live band. It was more background music than anything so we were able to chat and enjoy them at the same time. The whole layout of the restaurant, coupled with really great music and friendly attentive service (I think our waitress was called Kirsty-one with braided hair anyway) made our whole experience something quite special. This was the first visit for my wife and I to the Hotel Indigo, we went for afternoon tea. On entering the hotel, the receptionist welcomed us to the hotel and when we said we were there for afternoon tea she took us up in the lift to the first floor where we were shown a table for 2. I was amazed at the beautiful interior of the dining room and the service from the restaurant staff was first class. The afternoon tea was delightful and very good value. My wife and I were so impressed that we are planning to return for lunch this coming Friday to celebrate my birthday. Highly recommended! More...

Spent a night at Hotel Indigo on Saturday and can't wait to go back. We have stayed in the Newcastle venue several times (and loved it) however this hotel is in a different league!

We were geeted by the lovely Omar on reception who is very knowledgeable about the building, its history and renovations. The reception area is beautifully decorated and the attention to detail with bringing in the buildings previous use. He explained the layout of the hotel (room, bar and restaurant - the important stuff) and was very accommodating.

Arrived at our room on 2nd floor (412) and left speechless. It was beautiful. Walked through the door to a small hallway and then another door leading to a landing. 3 stairs down and into our room. Huge bed with detailed headboard/backing panels. Large tv with 2 comfy chairs. Then another 3 stairs leading up to possibly the largest bathroom I've seen. Double shower, long vanity unit and stand alone bath. Lots of lovely prints and deco about the university. We honestly couldn't have had a better room - we will certainly be making a request for that room in the future.

Drinks in the bar before heading out and looked after by the fabulous Colleen and Jane. 2 lovely ladies who always had a smile. Breakfast the next morning was in the MPW restaurant which has a beautiful detailed dome roof. Hubby had the Durham breakfast and I had Eggs Benedict - both very tasty. Again staff very helpful and never stopped. Tables cleared and reset very promptly which is fab, nothing worse than sitting near dirty tables for longer than necessary.

I can't wait to go back very soon. The staff are very friendly and always go the extra mile. Certainly recommend a visit here. Plus, some great bars and restaurants on the doorstep.
