Q&As

I think it is best summed up as-
"When I leave someone, I know I have left them in a better place than when I arrived."
The big worries today are failing health as we get older, how to manage the situation and to fund care. I help people take control of their affairs with properly crafted Wills, Powers of Attorney, Trusts and Funeral Plans. There are ways of protecting vulnerable beneficiaries and protecting assets that most are unaware of and I help uncover these solutions.
The process of "putting your affairs in order" is both sensible and brings with it a great sense of relief that its all been sorted. Its actually far less difficult than many imagine. A few hours is enough to sort out a full plan. Getting the conversation going is the hard bit!

Honey Legal have been going since 2010. They were known as The Will Associates Ltd until re branding about 2 years ago. I joined them last year as a self employed Consultant, having run my own business for the previous 17 years. I was looking for something with a greater sense of purpose, greater freedom, that I found interesting and that I can do until I am 80! This is just such a role. You can find out more detail on my Linked In profile.

Honey Legal are a firm of regulated, specialist Estate Planning solicitors. We only do Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA), Trusts, Funeral Plans and Probate Services. We write over 2000 Wills a month for example, so we are pretty good at it and do way more than most in our industry.

Our company philosophy is "Do The Right Thing"and Honey Legal have therefore chosen to be voluntarily regulated in an unregulated industry for our client's peace of mind. We are regulated by the Council for Licensed Conveyancers, The Financial Conduct Authority and all our solicitors are individually regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. Thats pretty rigorous compliance!

Our practice was to visit clients in the privacy of their own homes. Under the current lockdown we use video calls and the good old fashioned telephone to provide free no obligation quotes for our services, on a fixed fee basis with no hidden costs.

By choosing Honey Legal you can have peace of mind that your etsate is going to be protected for those people you love and have worked a lifetime to provide for.

Services

We will craft a Will that will ensure what you have worked hard for goes where you wish it to. We will minimise the risk of causing family feuds and of State involvement.
Honey legal write over 2000 Wills a month so have unrivalled expertise in this area.
We are also regulated, ( Will writers and Will writing is unregulated), so you can be 100% confident in the advice and any documents you receive from Honey Legal.

These often misunderstood documents put you in control if and when you were to lose "mental capacity" . If you do not have them in place and you were to lose capacity then Social services step in and decide everything. That is not the preferred option for most.
I will help you through the process of setting them up as you would like them to be and through the more complex signing and witnessing process and then registration at the Court. To see how difficult it can be without them in place Google Kate Garraway and /or Heather Bateman. Its all easily avoidable if you act soon enough.

A will is there to appoint guardians and divvy up whatever is left of the estate. It offers no protection to the estate. Different trusts do different jobs such as protecting the home from being sold to fund care fees, protecting step children's inheritance and protecting the vulnerable. I have a brother with learning difficulties ( Mencap is a key charity for me) and his inheritance is protected in a trust so his benefits are not affected. Its a complex subject so an informal chat to look at your options is best here.

These are a smart financial investment and a smart emotional one too. Being organised saves thousands of tears and thousands of pounds. The latest forecast is that funeral costs will rise by 20% by 2025! There is not an ISA or savings plan where your capital is safe that will match that level of inflation. It has to be paid for anyway so this is the smart way to do it.
72% of people have to borrow from family, friends, credit card or banks to fund it. That's a burden you don't have to place on your family at a difficult time emotionally. By planning the detail of your chosen send off you also spare the family heated discussions about songs, hymns, readings, flowers etc etc. They only need to make one phone call and you get the send off you wanted and not a hash up of what they all thought you wanted. For example only 52% know whether its a burial or cremation and barely 40% whether its a religious ceremony or not, let alone all the other aspects of a funeral.
