I I’ve had different reasons over the years to start different businesses, but it usually comes back to wanting to spend my time working on things that are interesting to me.

As of now, I’ve always had a day job. I build businesses on the side. Part of the reason is I haven’t found that one business idea that is going to replace my day job income. In some ways, that means I don’t commit as much as I could to each business, but in other ways, it means I have to find a way to build and run a business in the spare time I have.

On the other hand, I want to run a business that frees my time, so why would I trade my day job in for another day job in the form of a new business.

A lot of people have ideas of businesses they want to run and they either quit their jobs and go all in or never get started at all.

For the ones who never start at all, they don’t feel like they can get started because the time isn’t right or they don’t have the money or whatever other obstacles they have in their way. No amount of inspiration is going to get them to take a shot.

The ones who go all in and who you hear about are the stories that inspire us. That’s called survivorship bias. We all think we can quit our jobs and start to live our dreams because we only hear about the people who made it. We never hear about the ones who didn’t.

As I said before, I’ve always stayed in between the people who never started and the people who went all in.

I do this because it allows me the opportunity to see if the business is going to work for me or not without putting my finances at risk of failure. It also allows me to learn how to run a business and how to find out what I like and don’t like about different businesses
