Cracking place and scenery. Typical hotel priced drinks but the service was great and the food and snacks were also great. I'd certainly visit again. Only saw one room, which was a four poster suite. The decor was fab and in keeping with the period surrounds of the castle. The decor throughout the castle was also excellent. More...

Fabulous family Christmas. Welcomed with Prosecco and canapés and then onto the Christmas Meal in the palatial grand hall which was very impressive and beautifully decorated. Food and service excellent. Loved to hear the piano playing throughout the day with Christmas songs & a visit from Santa. Highly recommended for a special elegant Christmas. Excellent value for a memorable day. Thank-you. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ More...

We had our wedding at Hazlewood 6 months ago, which was amazing, but then we were lucky enough to win an overnight stay, dinner, bed & breakfast following a wedding review we had written. This was efficiently organised by Melissa (who was our original and fantastic wedding co-ordinator) and we had a great stay. The whole team at Hazlewood are so friendly, efficient and helpful we could not ask for anything more. I have written a separate review for the restaurant but we had a brilliant meal, they accommodate my husband really well who is celiac. Thank you again Hazlewood Castle and Melissa. More...

We had our wedding at Hazlewood Castle in November this year after 2 years of planning. The venue is absolutely stunning. The staff are incredible, wedding planner Kelly did an amazing job and and nothing was too much trouble . We had our two dogs at the wedding and we brought them to the majority of our planning meetings so they could get used the venue and Hazlewood were more than happy to accommodate this. In the few weeks before the wedding naturally I had a lot more questions/stresses as any bride would but Kelly made sure every question I had was answered. On the day everything ran smoothly and according to the plans we had made. Our guests absolutely loved the venue. The food was amazing, all the guests said how tasty the food was. The evening do was just brilliant, all the guests were up dancing and they even remarked how much they liked the DJ and the music choices. Before the wedding the DJ contacted me to request what songs we wanted playing and they did a fantastic job. I wish I could go back and have the day all over again and if I could I would still choose to have it at Hazlewood Castle. I truly had my dream wedding. Thank you so much. More...

The setting for this hotel is idylic and the hotel full of character however not brilliant access if you have mobility issues but the word Castle should alert you to this. The room was very comfortable, warm and clean as was the bathroom. The staff were very pleasant and well presented in appearance. Evening meal and breakfast were both delicious. Beautiful log burner in the lounge, together with easy chairs and copious amounts of books. There are numerous walks in the garden and surrounding woodland. Would recommend this hotel especially for a short break away from the hustle and bustle. More...

We had our wedding here at the weekend and it was absolutely perfect. The organisation and support provided by all of the staff at the castle was incredible. They handled every single detail and no request was not doable.||We had a rainy day but that didn't matter because we got amazing photos inside of the castle. Our families and friends had to travel from all around the country to be there and I all I heard was amazing comments from them. We also got looked after the night before the wedding as we had a lot of family and friends staying, they made sure we could all sit with each other and have dinner and drinks together.||Couldn't recommend enough, but I'm so grateful to Kelly and Olivia who made sure that everything was perfect. Not the warmest welcome from the hirsute receptionist, and first impressions with plates and cups lying around in the communal areas was not the best. However the young team at breakfast and dinner were pleasant and attentive. Food not the cheapest but well cooked and the wine was not a rip off. Towton bedroom clean with a small bathroom. More...

It's taken me a while to write this review, mainly thanks to my honeymoon(!) but I had to come on and reflect my experiences of this fantastic venue. ||||From the day we first visited to the moment we left after our wedding, the wedding team were absolutely fantastic. Kelly, our coordinator, was attentive, responsive and nothing was too much to ask, making us feel valued every step of the way. On the day, Nicola made sure everything ran like clockwork, to the point that I don't think I looked at the time or worried about anything for the entire day. ||||The hotel itself is stunning for a wedding. The photographs look incredible and it felt like being in a fairytale, exactly the reason we chose the venue. The food was delightful too. ||||All in all, the perfect day. Thank you to every single member of staff who carried some cheese (we had a lot of cheese), served a meal, helped move a chair or served a canape. Our day was everything we wanted and more, and that's thanks to the fabulous people at this hotel. More...

This was amazing. My wife and I were driving past and stumbled upon this castle by chance. I haven’t seen this suggestion yet, so do yourself favor and take a stroll around the outside of the chapel. On the back outside wall, there is a statue of Jesus. It’s breathtaking. We came across it after walking through the cemetery, kind of hidden away and not seen by many. We’ve stayed twice, brought friends along, rented 5 different rooms. It’s just a beautiful place, yes, it is old and has some oddities. ..but so worth it. The best surprise is how they have upgraded their service in the past year. The addition of food and beverage manager Collum (sorry, sir, if mispellled) is revolutionary. The food is fantastic, we ate there several nights, the group of us tried almost every dish on the menu and all were sublime. And we are New Yorkers, used to great food and service. And we DID try every dessert, also great. Collum’s service was exceptional. He made sure everything was perfect, remembered what we drank, brought us blankets when we sat outside in the evening. Five friends and I have just spent the weekend at Hazlewood Castle and it was absolutely fantastic. We are well-seasoned spa weekenders and this one did not disappoint. We were celebrating a 40th birthday so needed it to feel special, yet affordable for those paying to travel from London and Derby. |We paid for the retreat package, which included accommodation, all meals ( afternoon tea too) Prosecco per twin room on arrival (which was put on our table at dinner, if we preferred) and a 30-minute treatment of our choice at Imagine Spa, on site. |The whole weekend was faultless; from the minute we arrived at the spa we were treated so well. It’s a small spa yet they were able to accommodate all of our treatments and we still had time to relax and unwind before check-in and afternoon tea. We were a bit peckish whilst in the spa and the staff arranged for some bar food and Prosecco for us. |Our massages were brilliant and all the girls managed to really unwind. |Overall, the staff could not do enough for us; even when they had a wedding taking place, we still felt special and looked after. |Dinner was such good quality and the portions were very substantial. The restaurant manager, Callum, really stood out as giving exceptional service. |The grounds themselves are beautiful; it’s a very old castle, with lots of interesting nooks and crannies, yet the rooms and dining areas are very clean and well-maintained. Overall, a great weekend-getaway (and a perfect wedding venue).|My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and we will most definitely be back. |Thank you Hazlewood! | More...
