For clarity – this company is Alliance Landscapes and Gardens based in the Coalville area of Leicestershire as run by a lad called William James. I think the company is part of his dad or uncles company run under the same name. I hired them to install slabs at the back of my house and block paving at the side and front of my house. I WOULD RECOMMEND AVOIDING THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST primarily for the fact that they have left the block paving on the side and at the front of my house unfinished and to an incredibly low standard. I was told by Will three weeks ago that he would return to complete the job and convinced to pay the majority of the job off as there was only “a small amount left to do”. Since then I have tried to contact Will through phone, email and text message on multiple times and had no response. On inspection of the block paving work that has been done I can see they have:
- not cemented ANY of the external blocks down (this is standard installation and without it the blocks will spread over time)
- not filled the gaps with sand and whacked down the blocks (meaning the blocks are loose and move under foot)
- installed a step which does not meet regulations (you can’t even get your foot on it) and where all the blocks are loose – causing my postman to complain when he nearly sprained his ankle as a block came loose under his foot
- installed the blocks in an inconsistent pattern which looks a mess
- not jetwashed the blocks and finished with sealer

I can literally pull up any of the blocks with my hands with minimal effort.

I have given Will every opportunity to get in touch to rectify the problem but have heard NOTHING for 3 weeks so I have resorted to getting 2 other landscaping companies to quote to fix the mess who are saying it will cost me up £2000 as they see the only way forward as pulling the whole of the block paving up and re-laying.

In credit to Alliance, the slab paving at the back has been done to a decent standard but there were still the following issues when they did this work:
They have left the outside of my house at the rear smattered with cement
They filled both my normal and recycling bins full of garden rubbish when it was specifically agreed they would take the rubbish away
I was told the slabs would receive a second protective sealer – this has not been done
I was told that two slabs which wobble under foot would be fixed – this has not been done.

I am absolutely gutted it has come to writing this up – I don’t think I have ever had to write a negative review – but I feel I have essentially been robbed of my hard earned money and don’t want anyone else to go through that More...

Very quick to respond got the work done efficiently and fast! No messing about would recommend to anyone looking to have a new fence fitted.

Very rapid service, clean and tidy workers. Thought job was rather expensive though.
