We met Jo & Nick about 6 months before our wedding and were immediately reassured that we'd made the right choice and they understood what we wanted to achieve. Our wedding was a small family/friends event over 3 days at a venue that they'd photographed at before so the ideas were a great combination of what we wanted and what they knew would work best. We had a very specific plan and Jo & Nick took it all in and they added to it with their love of the architecture and the grounds. We didn't want any formal shots and loved the idea of both of them capturing moments of groups and angles throughout the course of the day/evening. Some of our favourite photos are those taken by the '2nd' photographer for certain shots capturing some real moments.

We were really happy with the number of conversations we had around locations, groups and specific shots. The care and attention that they both took in the lead up to the event gave both of us reassurance and trust that the results would be amazing. On the day they were fantastic, friendly, relaxed, punctual. They genuinely cared about us have the most incredible day.

Within a few days we got an early view of some of the shots which were stunning and got us so excited about seeing the rest. The final stage of designing the album was again both an enjoyable and easy experience with a face to face meeting to talk through layout, designs, and covers. Jo was able to accommodate all of our requests and we received the album really quickly, which we love, and has created an amazing story of the weekend.

Review from my mum about the shoot:

Jo and Nic met Lauren (my daughter) and I for a "shoot" on a rainy August day. We were "all" really excited (by which I mean Lauren and I, Marley and Jess our four legged companions). Jo was so careful ahead of time getting us prepared both practically (right clothes) and mentally (right head space).

Jo has a love of her craft and the subject that exuded from her from the moment she arrived. She bounced across the car park all smiles and energy which was really important because I was nervous and the horse had a mind of his own.

We had an incredible day. I forgot to be nervous, he didn't forget to be naughty, and in spite of it all we had fun and laughed a lot.

I have no idea given the nature of the subject matter with which Jo wasn't blessed how she managed to pull off such incredible work. I left thinking "crikey, I hope she got something". In truth she got everything I could ever have wanted and more.

She captured me in a way I can bear to look at. That's rare. She captured the essence and spirit of Marley despite him being determined to constantly do the opposite of what we were asking. She captured my friendship with Marley in images which I now have to hold on to for a lifetime.

The photos help me to see me through Jo's eyes. They are so much more competent than mine. She is an incredible judge of what makes a "good photo" - so much so I've stopped trying to see that for myself. I "just ask Jo".

She's taken immense care. She's told me over and over she wants me to be happy, I am so happy I could burst.

Working with Jo isn't getting photos taken. It's a life experience. Do it. You won't regret it. More...

My 14 year old daughter, Lottie, sorted the whole shoot out with Jo to take photos of her ponies. Jo was kind and prompt in her communications and worked around our busy life to come on a Bank Holiday Monday. The shoot was the most delightful experience and Jo and Nick’s attention to detail was first class. They accommodated all of our wishes without question and even took photos of our dog and my other daughter and her horse to please the whole family. They stayed for a long shoot to get just the right light and scenery and were so accommodating. My husband and I were really impressed as it surpassed our expectations hugely. As for the results we could not be more pleased. The amount of attention and detail Jo and Nick put into the showing of our huge album was just an unforgettable experience. The first time we met Jo and Nick to talk about them capturing our wedding, they realised we are not a conventional couple and would not be having a standard wedding. We talked about the Planetarium for the ceremony and there was mention of a hamster wheel which I was determined to get on in my dress! Lucky for us they were not put off but intrigued and up for something a bit different.
From that moment they were supportive and took so much time and care, understanding exactly what we wanted and getting to know us. We had a great engagement shoot and they were kind enough to let my parents, very keen photographers, to come along and watch. My Dad had found Jo for us and his judgement was spot on.
Thank you so much for enabling us to focus on our wedding day, our guests and all the fun craziness that happened. We could relax knowing that every moment was being preserved for us.

I first came into contact with Jo Hansford Photography when I was given a voucher as a Christmas present.
I was thrilled to think I was going to get some quality photographs of Bertie my 25 year old forever pony.
It was decided to wait for better weather to arrange the date for the shoot.
Jo was very flexible when organising the date and was able to arrange the time to suit my hectic work commitments.
The day arrived and as I getting ready I suddenly realised that I was nervous. I don't really enjoy having my photograph taken and there I was setting off to a photo shoot where, along with Bertie, I would be the focus!
I needn't have worried. Jo and Nic immediately made me feel at ease , in fact I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity of being photographed with Bertie and Dexter my miniature dachshund.
I was sorry when the session was over but eagerly awaited the photographs.
We (yes all my family- poor Jo) descended on Jo and Nic's lovely home. They were the perfect hosts and we were soon all settled around the screen waiting for the great reveal.
The photographs came one after another,
all beautiful and full of character. We all cried as so lovely.
Jo demonstrated an enormous amount of patience as I wanted to examine each shot several times before selecting the best.
Selections made and orders confirmed we left full of excitement about my purchases.
I am now the proud owner of a selection of amazing photographs, and a beautiful book of my beloved Bert that truly reflects his personality.
I can only sum up the whole experience as amazing from start to finish.

Right from our first meeting, it was clear Jo really understood us and exactly the sort of photography we were after for our wedding. They were so lovely and made us feel so comfortable on the day and it was a pleasure to have them be a part of our wedding. We have been so happy with our decision to have Jo Hansford Photography capture our wedding day. Through the whole journey right from the initial meeting, to our engagement shoot and the wedding day Jo has been friendly, helpful and professional, spending time to get to know us and show us her work. Jo is a real storyteller and captured all the emotion of our wedding day so beautifully, from the initial preparations right through to the evening. We have so many natural shots that I didn't even know were being taken. We got married on a cold and windy December day and I'm sure it wasn't easy to get so many lovely photographs with the wind blowing my hair and wedding dress all over the place! Jo has the perfect balance of being easy going so you feel completely comfortable around her but also being assertive - so necessary for gathering and directing people for your group shots when you have a large wedding party, limited time and a windy day when people don't want to be hanging around outdoors!
