Excellon stepped in at very short notice to help with our Database which was quite complex. It had beendesigned by another software designer who left no notes or guidance material. Within two weeks Excellon had reviewed the existing software, corrected errors which had been present for some time and developed new elements for us. We find them very professional and astute with lots of patience and tenacity in helping us to solve problems and improve what we had in place. What makes a great website?
Three key elements and these can be applied to all types of software not just websites:
1. Usability - Must be easy to use, ideally with simple workflows as much as possible.
2. Responsive - must be as quick as possible to respond to user requests.
3. Engaging - Content must draw and then keep users engaged on the site.

Developing software to resolve / improve processes has always been a passion, putting my mind to solve problems is very satisfying and being able to apply this to multiple industries keeps the variety in our working life, which will all need especially in these difficult times.
What inspired you to start your own business?
While spending many of my formative years working at larger companies I was finding a lot of the work was becoming repetitive and predictable. Starting Excellon Systems has allow me to have more autonomy over how the software I produced is created and being able to control the projects to which we become involved with.
Why should our clients choose you?
All software is written and just as importantly tested to our highest standards. A User specification will be generated from your requirements which will agree with you before we start implementation, so you will know exactly what you are getting, but with sufficient flexibility to cater for changes and new requirements as we progress.
From the initial requirements capture an appropriate Software Development Process / Life cycle will be defined and used for the project, with customer preferences taken on board, making you central to the development process. If required a user guide or on-line help system these can be provided.
You will be kept involved during the development with regular progress updates and a pre-arranged milestones. All the above can be tailored to each client, depending on your requirements and budget.
After sales support is also available through 12 monthly maintenance and support plans if required, this includes all bug fixes relating to the user requirements, as well as e-mail support.

From start to finish we want to provide a development process you feel comfortable with. To achieve this we will discuss your requirements with you, producing and documenting an agreed set of User Requirements, which will be used as the starting point for the contract with you through the life of the project, but we remain flexible to cater for changes and new requirements as we progress, through the use of an appropriate Software Development Process e.g. Agile.
You will be kept involved during the development with regular progress updates and a pre-arranged milestones. We want to ensure the software we produce matches your expectations as defined within the user requirements and that it can be provided within the agreed timescale.

Document production to support the development process is a key element of software production within the aerospace industry to allow certification of systems by the appropriate authorities, CAA and EASA.
We are therefore ideally suited to produce high quality technically correct documentation. Though many may consider documentation generation a waste of resource, as systems become larger and more complex the benefits of good quality documentation become clear with regards the maintenance of these systems.
Software Testing
Effective testing and where appropriate system analysis should always be considered a key factor in providing confidence that software systems are free from bugs from the first software release.
We have experience of both manual and automated testing for system testing through to unit test and software analysis e.g. peer reviews and formal methods etc.
