Thank you so much to Ben and his team at Emsworth Deli. They were incredible. When Chris and I got engaged the first thing we agreed on was that we wanted our cake made out of cheese.
We’re massive cheese lovers and the thought of going to taste different cheeses to make our wedding cake really excited us. Dad did the research and found a little deli set out in Emsworth.
When we arrived, a warm and friendly lady, with lots of character, greeted us. She grabbed us some drinks, sat us down and we started listing some of our favourite cheeses. She then went away to the counter and came back with a plateful of different scrummy cheeses for us to try. I’d already seen a picture so had it in my mind with iced mice, grapes and figs all over it, the trick was finding the right size cheeses to sit on each layer and provide the ridges for the fruit. Ben was very easy to talk to and quickly responded to all our concerns over email. The final spec looked like this:
The Cake
Top tier - Godminster heart 400g
Second tier - Oakwood smoked 2kg
Third tier - 1/2 Wensleydale with cranberries, 1/2 Wensleydale with apricots 2.5kg
Fourth tier - Colston Bassett blue Stilton 4kg
Fifth tier - Brie de Meaux rouzaire 3kg
Bottom tier - Wookey hole cave aged cheddar 5kg
Individual cheese - capricorn goats cheese 5x100g
Individual cheese - red devil 5x200g
The cake was spectacular. When I saw it on the day, it took my breath away. It was everything and more that I could have hoped for. It got so many compliments and it went down a real treat as our evening buffet. The guests couldn’t get enough of it. We were expecting a lot more cheese left over!

The meats are delicious the balsamic onions excquisite they have every cheese you will ever want to try pickles crackers olives all my favorite items and from local farms and businesses and the sandwich platter is my idea of heaven..fantastic service every time x

Plush Tents loves this cafe. Superb selection of meats and cheeses and wine. From cave aged cheddar to Barkham Blue.They will even take the time to explain what meats and cheeses go well with their chutneys and wines.
