Beautiful venue, lovely grounds and rooms full of historical feel with lots of nooks and crannies to explore and socialise in. Very fitting for those planning a class wedding. We even had a lady playing a harp in the hall and grounds - sublime! We didnt stay as need to head off early but staff friendly and plenty of space. Food delicious too. 10/10 More...

What an absolute gorgeous venue. Was my chosen wedding venue - The staff are all lovely and very understanding, as well as helpful in every way. The owners are wonderful and try their best to accommodate any requests you may have. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. The Malting Barn (reception area) is stunning and is the perfect mix of modern and country. They are reasonable in price and the food (+drinks) are worth every penny. The bedrooms are stunning, and the main one makes you want to live there forever . I wish I could relive my wedding day as a guest just to experience the whole venue in a different light. But anyway, I could not fault this lovely place and would recommend to anyone looking for a barn-style wedding venue. More...

There are no words to describe what a great place this is. My wife and I got married here and it couldn't be more perfect. The place itself is stunning with breathtaking grounds and views surrounding the beautiful country house. Inside is much of the same with amazingly decorated rooms in keeping with the traditional theme and decor. But a venue isn't just made by the building or grounds, it's the staff also, and I cannot speak highly enough of those who work at Blakelands. From the planning and preparation all the way to the day itself, the staff were absolutely fantastic! They dealt with every question and concern and made planning and execution of the wedding as easy as possible. If you want a country style wedding then I would wholeheartedly recommend this place. What can I say, our wedding was no less than perfect! We booked The blakelands over two years ago after seeing paul at a wedding fair. I had dismissed this venue before hand as I had only seen photos of the old house. Am I glad I bumped into him?! He showed photos of all the grounds and we decided to go to their wedding fair. Here we realised that all the grounds had character especially the barn. We felt ‘at home’ as soon as we walked in. It was exactly what we were looking for and the best decision we have made, booking the blakelands for our wedding, September 2018. Paul and the rest of the team are fab. Everyone that came to our wedding commented on the grounds, the food and the service. If I could fault our day in any way, I would be honest and say so. But it was incredible. If your looking for a venue for a wedding, retirement party or anything else, you will not be disappointed by choosing this venue! Great venue in a great setting. I'm a wedding photographer and so I get to see a lot of venues. Really like Blakelands, lots of lovely outdoor spots for photos but also, on the wedding I shot there recently it started raining, they have some great interiors so we did a lot of photos inside, no problem. What do you love most about your job?
Meeting new people and helping them to capture their memories of such key moments - although that sounds a tad like some marketing person wrote it.
When a couple (assuming wedding for the moment) come back from honeymoon and come to collect their album or digi package or DVD - seeing their delight in our "work"
What bothers me most is when someone collects their DVD and tells me how disappointed they are in their photography from their other chosen company.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Not the normal answer perhaps but the "business" was actually not intentional but a hobby that has gotten horribly out of hand during the last 20+ years.
Why should our clients choose you?
Easy, a genuine desire to deliver top quality service and a superb end product.
The company that does this solely for their living will generally do as little as they can in order to get paid, which is why most companies state "we only cover 6-8 hours" or such.
The person or persons that genuinely enjoy (whilst simultaneously worry about) each wedding will, in my opinion, deliver a better outcome with fewer (if any) constraints.
For example, Maxine recently received a review on Facebook where the commenter mentioned her commitment of 13+ hours attendance - unlike others this carried no additional charge!
