What do you love most about your job?
Firstly, I love working with people. It's inspiring to see business owners and entrepreneurs set out on a journey that takes them toward their dreams. Sometimes things can be challenging, and it's rewarding to work with people to help them devise solutions to get back on track. If they're doing well then it's just as rewarding to help them develop new plans to maximise their success.
There are a lot of numbers involved but basically it's a people business.
What inspired you to start your own business?
For over 20 years I'd worked with small to medium sized businesses leading or advising their finance teams. The more successful ones were those that had high quality and regular information. As I looked around, I could see that most small businesses lacked good information and sometimes struggled to know what their financial position was during the year, even if they did have a bookkeeper.
When you know where you are, it's much easier to make good decisions.
