James Monk has been phenomenal! Joined a gym because I was feeling a bit out of shape. Did not really have a clue what I was doing, so signed up with him to get some help. First a general fitness assessment and then a workout programme with some cardio and weights (never used before). Firm instructions on how to use equipment properly - apparently I was all over the place! New diet plan - hard at first but then OK. 6 weeks in now and feel so much better - exercises hurt like hell at first but now really enjoying my sessions. Lots of girls want to lose weight, but in my case I wanted to put on some weight! I have always been a naturally skinny person and have struggled to put on a bit of size/shape. A friend recommended James Monk and he tailor made an exercise and nutrition plan for me and explained how important eating well is. This has helped a lot - he produced a 12 week plan that has helped me put on some pounds and at the same time get me in better condition and increase my strength. Just feel so much better about myself now. Highly recommend also nice to take advice from someone who knows what they are talking about and also practices what he preaches! More...

I needed to put on some bulk and muscle as a bit skinny, and to get myself fit for a new job. Got recommended by a friend to James Monk - Personal Trainer at EPT. He spent some time listening to my objectives and put me on a tailored exercise programme including a new diet. It has been great working with James really knows his stuff! A load of exercises we did I never new existed and I actually use the gym equipment properly now! He promised me I would feel a lot different after 4 weeks - I did and we are now into some weight lifting to build strength. I don’t normally leave reviews for things like this, but I wanted to share the fantastic service and personal training session that I have just received from James at Eastbourne personal training. I feel like I have been given a kick start to getting ready for summer, James was friendly, listened to my needs so that we could work out a schedule and he gave me advise in terms of health and nutrition. He went through each exercise thoroughly and his knowledge on health and fitness is amazing. Very professional and I felt at ease. I cant wait to book in more sessions. More...

After years of trying to work out gym routines on my own and not really succeeding I decided to commit to some personal training. I found Eastbourne personal training though yell and decided to make contact. James was extremely helpful and suggested we meet to discuss a plan and my intended goal. I now have a weight training programme which I do with James 3 times a week alongside my cardio. He also gave me nutritional advice which I was grateful for. Would recommend James to anyone needing help to get started with training. Thank you. More...

Needed to take more exercise as putting on some weight as I get into my 30's so started to go to gym. No clue what I was really doing! decided to get some advice from James Monk. First up doing all my exercises wrong so got put right on that by James - made a huge difference. Now also have a proper written training/exercise programme which I do at least 3 times a week combined with a special<span id="moreReview636968" class="hide"> diet programme. I have retained James as a personal trainer to help me though the next few weeks. Really helps having someone who knows about exercise, health and fitness. By spending time with each client to define exactly what their fitness goals are and the timeframes they are working to. There is 'no one size fits all' solutions - every client is unique. All clients receive an initial fitness assessment and are then provided with a 'tailored' exercise programme, and taught how different exercises impact on the body and why a varied, defined set of exercises produces quicker results. Diet and Nutrition are critical and each client is provided with a specific diet/nutrition plan. Many clients will need a 'change of behaviour' in order to fully benefit from the exercise programme and this is also very important in order to make exercise a pleasant habit. 'One to One' personal advice and guidance is always provided on an ongoing basis.

There is no 'secret' to getting the body of your dreams. The equation is very simple... hard work+dedication+correct/regular exercise+correct diet/nutrition+behaviour change = results.
To achieve any fitness goal you must stay dedicated throughout your journey and for many people it is a journey! You must eat well and train hard and regularly as well as adopting a healthy and active lifestyle. If you listen and learn and follow the guidance I give you - the results will come.

Meeting and working with a wide range of clients both male and female all with a common purpose - to
achieve a personal goal! For me personally I enjoy making my clients happy and getting them to reach their goals. I find it incredibly satisfying to see them achieve success, progress and achieve results. I believe personal training is a lot about changing a persons 'mind set'. This in turn will lead to a change in the physical. If your mind is in the right place your body will follow. I have always been a firm believer in this and some of the results I achieve with clients are remarkable.

I have worked as a personal trainer for some of the leading health and fitness clubs in the UK since 2010 and I wanted to do something a bit different for people living in the Eastbourne area - hence Eastbourne Personal Training allowing me to work the way I want to with my clients and implement the programmes I think will achieve results. I have some of the best gym facilities available to me in Eastbourne and can provide great flexibility to clients.

I am a fully qualified REPS Level 3 Advanced Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor and also have a BA(Hons) degree in Health and Fitness. I have over 6 years experience dealing with a wide range of clients with different fitness needs both male and female.
