PETER WILLIS TELLS THE THE DOUGLAS WILLIS STORY:

In the 1940s Douglas Willis my grandfather founded our first “grocers” shop selling fresh game. A little bit later he moved in to a butcher’s shop and rented a farm with the ideology of supplying meat from pasture to plate, which is still maintained today.

We have beef from our very own herd of Welsh cattle and also Welsh lambs from our own and local farms in the beautiful Usk valley and we source the finest poultry and game from handpicked producers to ensure the principles of care and quality is maintained throughout.

In 1961, my father David joined the business. A few years later our business expanded to include 3 local retail shops.

In 1986 I joined the company working with my father in our retail shops. In the late 80’s my father started the wholesale catering side of the business, providing meat to local businesses. My brother Sean joined the wholesale side in the 1990’s.

The original ethos established by my Grandfather of “Never compromise quality or service and you will always have customers.” is still maintained today.

Our long term goal has always been to provide high quality locally produced meat to a sustainable customer base ensuring customer loyalty and satisfaction.

The natural progression for our fresh meat shops was to offer “food to go” and outside catering, so Douglas Willis Retail expanded in 2010 and now provides a fresh and exciting takeaway food experience along with a Speciality Catering Service – the complete eating experience.

With our passion for food, first class service and eye catching presentation we have built up an enviable reputation in the catering world.
