An incredible person to have for any event. We had DJ Whoppa for a hall party and we couldn’t have asked for a better person. What’s the secret to keeping a party dancing all night long?
You have to make sure you get to know the crowd as quickly as possible. A playlist(s) from your customer in advance helps A LOT. As a DJ, you have to make sure you keep a close eye on the crowd and see what songs they are reacting to. Getting a big positive reaction from a song means you have to play more of the same. Getting a bad or slightly bad reaction to a song means a quick spin back and a new song are needed!!!
Crucially, you have to know your music. If you know the music the crowd wants you will keep them on the dance floor all night long.
How would you describe your ‘style’?
My style is dictated by my client. If my client wants a club-like experience with me mixing tracks in and out like a club dj - that's what they will get. If my client wants a more sedate pace to their party with me playing background music, fading songs in and out - that is what they will get.
I operate on whatever is needed for the party in front of me. Some clients will want their dj to just play music, others like their dj to interact with the crowd and use the microphone. My style is fluid.
What do you love most about your job?
I love music! And not just one set of music - lots of different genres. I love being able to hear the songs people have produced on a quality (and loud) sound system.
And I love getting people to dance! There is nothing better than seeing people dancing with each other and having fun.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I used to dj on vinyl years ago when I was at university. I stopped when I realised I was spending all my student loan money on vinyl records - but getting no money coming into my wallet.
I started djing again after seeing a friend djing using a laptop and some equipment mimicking turntables - and realising that I could make money from my passion as well.
Why should our clients choose you?
There is a high probability that I will have as much fun as my client during any booking I do! If clients hire me they will be getting a dj that takes pride in their work and will achieve the aim of making sure you have a party that you will never forget!
