What do you love most about your job?
I thrive on challenge and problem solving, especially finding exactly the right words for each commission. Good writing requires clarity of thought - I love working with a client to establish priorities, and then turning those ideas into copy which really captures their purpose.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I enjoy the variety and independence of freelance work. It allows me to really focus on the task in hand without distractions inherent in a larger organisation.

All my services are available online and remotely. It's always good to meet clients face to face and in person. When that isn't practicable, we can do everything via the telephone and email, and using your choice of video-conferencing app.

I follow government guidelines, with cautious common sense added in as appropriate. All my services are offered online via email, telephone and Zoom or similar.

I write regular blogs for a small group of clients who have something interesting to say. This is usually on a monthly basis and I'm happy to add to this list of customers. However, I'm not in the market for high frequency postings on social media. They have an important part to play in digital marketing, but it is not a service I provide.
I offer a range of other writing services for business, including white papers, case studies, in-house guides and business proposals . Perhaps unusually for a writer, I'm comfortable with numbers and have plenty of experience turning large quantities of data into into a coherent narrative.

Pricing
My charges vary depending on the nature and scope of the commission.
However, the starting point is a daily rate of £400, or £60 an hour for shorter commissions which take less than a day. I charge blogs at £200 blogs up to 1000 words, scaled up thereafter at £50 per 500 words. Thus a piece of 750 words will cost £200, and 1500 words I will charge at £250. 2000 words will cost £300, and so on. Naturally, you decide the word count for the published version.
Individual commissions vary considerably in complexity, so prices can be adjusted up or down depending on that, as well as the overall size of the project and the amount of research needed before I can start writing.
Proofreading and Copy Editing
Alongside my copywriting business I also offer a straightforward proof reading and copy editing service. Prices vary, depending on the size and complexity of the project. Prices are in line with those recommended by the Chartered Institute of Editors and Proofreaders. Get in touch to find out more.

eBooks can serve many purposes but they are usually - directly or indirectly - about promoting your business generally, or supporting a particular initiative. I'll help you focus on what matters and bring the right tone of voice to your content to achieve maximum impact.
