We cannot recommend DDWH Architects enough. We have worked with few other Architects, but we never found as straightforward and understanding as DDWH Architects. As a company they were very good with communication throughout the project, specially the drawings they provide for the project its very easy to understand. Overall, very happy and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone. More...

Best price and offering of those who tendered. Timely and assisted with a few things once the build was underway too.

Being building contracts we have worked with many architects over the years. We met Warren from DDWH Architects a couple of years back and since then have completed a number of successful projects with them. Warrens key eye for detail and design ensure a smooth running project from the outset to completion. Clients speak highly of him and find him easy to approach and extremely professional. We hope to continue working with him on many more projects in the future. More...

WE have found DDWH architects a very creative professional helpful firm who have addressed our questions and thought closely with us about what we are trying to do and accommodated changes in the design in revised drawings.
They have worked with us through the complex planning process and regulations.
They have reliably produced work of a very high specification, commented upon by builder's for its precision, utility and its importance for costing and undertaking the proposed work.

I would recommend them to anyone seeking a thoughtful and attentive architect

From the start Warren has been very understanding of our needs in terms of maximising space and creating the best possible layout. Our project is a three bed terraced house with loft conversion, rear extension and internal refurbishment. He worked quickly to submit all relevant planning applications with the council, making the initial process fairly smooth and straightforward. Where we had any questions, Warren was quick to respond and explain, also giving useful recommendations on design, layout, materials and general advice. We had the opportunity to see a previous house/client who used his architectural services and were very impressed with final design/layout. We are happy with DDWH Architects and would not hesitate to recommend him! More...

From the start, Warren has been knowledgeable, efficient and competent. We chose him as we thought his experience of working in our area, Camden, might be useful, and this has been the case.
All his extensive preparatoty work for our job has been either on or under budget. We're very confident of a successful project,

DDWH architects provided full support in respect of a rear extension, and house refurbishment works works going ahead at my property.

They applied and won a planning approval for a larger extension that is usually passed with my local council as our property is in a conservation area. They completed all the technical information package for Building Control regulations, and have sent tenders to various contractors for pricing.

Overall they have provided an excellent service and took total control of all the lengthy paperwork needed obtain project approval. When compared against other architects their pricing and service they have provided is far superior to others we approached.

I was initially put in contact with Warren at DDWH by a building company who had worked with him on a previous project. My project was the full renovation of a mid terrace Victorian house with a basement extension/conversion. Although I had a fairly clear idea of what I hoped to achieve Warren had several useful ideas with respect to the layout of the basement that would not have occurred to me. In particular he suggested the inclusion of an entrance to the rear of the basement as well as to the front. This has made the two rooms much more enjoyable spaces and given more natural light than I could have hoped for. The rest of the internal layout was relatively straightforward however at every step Warren was able to give measured and considered advice.

With respect to the internal arrangement of the property and the fixtures and fittings Warren and his partner Donika were able to give good advice and help in respect of co-ordinating finishes to the floors and walls. They were also able to help in sourcing carpets and kitchen appliances.

In terms of managing the progress of payments I was glad I employed Warren to do this as at the conclusion of the job the builder and I disagreed on the total cost of the job. Without Warren's help and completion of the payments progress sheet I believe it would have been difficult to keep track of the payments as the method used by the builder to keep his record was, at best, to my eyes confusing.

On a personal level I found Warren very easy to work with. He was always available by telephone and returned e mails promptly. If I was to undertake a similar project I would be happy to use him again.

This was a difficult project, in a sensitive residential area, with full renovation (stripped back to nothing) of two adjacent top floor flats and then rebuilt with an additional floor. Warren provided all the plans and managed the project for us with the builders to produce a wonderful new flat for us and our neighbour. He liaised well with us not only on the plans and layout, but also the internal design and was extremely helpful. In addition, he managed the project well and cushioned us from the inevitable small problems that arose with the neighbours, building surveyors, and builders. More...

I bought a house that needed to be fully refurbished and also wanted a ground floor extension to be built. The architect from DDWH was respectful, experienced, knowledgeable, and most importantly he had a pleasant attitude and seemed like someone I could work with. DDWH were with me throughout the whole process including initial appraisal of property, identifying solutions, providing advice on the services needed, survey, drawings (which were negotiated and changed as many times as was necessary), design, estimating costs, and submitting for planning approval. DDWH prepared a specification of works, helped me find builders, and then continued to check and report back during works. There were many more services involved in the project than I had anticipated but I was always confident that the architect would liaise on my behalf, manage, and work well together with them in my best interests. I could not have asked for a better service and I am extremely happy with my lovely home. More...

The DDWH team did an excellent job on a number of fronts: the structural work associated with the creation of our loft which was a complex undertaking was done very effectively; their project management of the construction team was also highly effective; they also really understood the design aesthetic that we were aiming for in our home and managed to create exactly the right result that we wanted. We enjoyed working with them and would certainly do so if another opportunity arose. They bring both a level of creativity and pragmatism into their work and made our year long refurbishment a very pleasant experience. More...

Having used architectural practices with 10-15 partners for over 20 years, about five years ago we decided to use a smaller firm that could provide us with the technical advice and guidance we needed for our property development projects with an extra degree of care and commitment. We discovered DDWH architects based in North London through an Internet search and during our preliminary exploratory meetings we formed a favourable view of their credentials and concluded that they could deliver what we required of an architectural firm in respect of the type of assignments we had in mind.
Starting their work for us four years ago, DDWH architects have completed two refurbishment projects and are currently handling the conversion of the loft space above one of our flats in a conservation area.
The securing of planning consent for this development was complicated and DDWH architects dealt with the issues involved in a focused and realistic way to achieve our overall objective of creating habitable space additional to the existing accommodation provided by the flat. Most comfortingly, they carried out the negotiations with the planners of the local authority sensitively and timeously and delivered the result we desired.
In the visualization and conceptualisation of our requirements in respect of all three projects DDWH have adopted a ‘no-frills’, practical approach infused with a healthy measure of common-sense, maintaining as the guiding light for their architectural creations and interior design schemes cost and practical considerations. They have evinced a similar turn of mind to solving the inevitable problems associated with the developments and have also added value to the projects, where possible, with creative and imaginative designs.
All in all, DDWH provide a genuinely personal and client-friendly architectural practice and design service and we have also found their fee structures to be fair and reasonable.

We have worked with DDWH on 2 occasions. They designed, got planning permission and project managed a large rear extension and some internal refurbishment on our first project with them. Our second project involved a complete internal refurbishment of a 4 bedroom house plus a large loft conversion and rear extension - again they designed, secured planning and project managed.
- Warren Howling is a very 'user friendly' architect- receptive to client input and practical in his approach. Also very responsive - if you send him an email you know you will get a quick reply!
- We were very pleased with his design input and specification suggestions overall
- He was pretty much always available to help with problem solving during the build process and dealt with all contractors in a very calm and professional way - and had good ideas to solve any practical problems that arose

we asked for the complete refurbishment and extension of our townhouse, including complete removal of ground floor walls and re-build to new layout and extension, new staircases, and amended front elevation.

Warren @ DDWH helped us re-design the house completely to our spec and showed us some new ideas in how to optimize what we needed. Improving concepts and ideas such as large master en-suite, new stairway and storage space. He and his team also helped with suggestions for fittings and finishes.

We had their help during construction too. Many issues and problems were solved or avoided by their suggestions and discussions with us and the builders.

Q&As

We take time to understand the building, the context, and listen to the clients briefing carefully. We then respond to their requirements carefully while also helping them explore other possibilities, to ensure they obtain the best and most suitable result from their properties. This also helps maximise their return on investment.

We design both contemporary and more traditional interiors - Classical, Art Deco, Arts and Crafts, Victorian, Georgian - depending on the property and clients preferences.

We love the variety of the design work, and helping clients secure the best results, often in ways they had not initially considered.

After working in design and commercial architects practices in London for over ten years, we decided that we would like full control over our work, so decided to strike out in our own boutique design practice.

We have extensive experience of all types of residential design - this is what we have been working on for the last two decades! Myself and my partner Donika also provide a friendly, helpful service to help guide clients through the process.
