About

I am a photographer based in Gloucester, Gloucestershire. I'm still fairly new to the business, and slowly building up my portfolio. I've so far shot 1 wedding, several fashion shows, and lots of events that the NHS 2gether trust has held. I've had great feedback from the work I've done so far, and I have been published with credit in newspapers, newsletters and websites.

Dawn is a very talented photographer with a great eye for detail! As a Manager at Edinburgh Woollen Mill I often use Dawn to photograph our events, and she captures the magic of each event through her photos. I would definitely recommend her! Reliable, great timekeeping, fantastic photography. More...

Q&As

A great eye, timing and knowledge of your equipment, and occasionally a little luck!

For a wedding I like to know fairly quickly if I'm working with a heterosexual couple or a same sex couple. To me, automatically assuming a couple are a bride and groom, in this day and age, is just plain rude.
Other things I like to ask, what style of photography do you like (I provide examples of various styles to choose from), do you want "before" and "getting ready" shots? How would you like your photos to be presented to you? Are there any particular shots you want? What are your likes and dislikes in photos?

It started as a hobby, so it's something that I love and I'm passionate about. I like being my own boss, I'm a bit of a control freak and a perfectionist when it comes to my work, so doing everything myself, exactly how I want is important to me, and I believe that also produces the best out of me for my clients.

Photography was a hobby for many years, but I never had time to pursue it or do much with it because I was working. Back in 2014 I had to give up my job due to health reasons. It was a dark time for me, but I got through it by using all this free time I suddenly had to do more with photography and expand my knowledge and portfolio. I never intended to start my own business, but I have now learnt that it's a good option for me, to work for myself, being flexible in my hours and how much I do. Starting my own business has given me back my life and independence, all on my own terms.

I am a perfectionist and I throw myself into every job, giving 110% to make sure myself and my client have the best experience. I will take a million photos (it doesn't take many really!) if that's what it takes to get the perfect shot, because anything less than that is not good enough for me. I get as many details as I can prior to any shoot, and I scout new locations before the day. This makes everything run a lot smoother on the day.
I also offer spot colour editing, which I'm told is not something most photographers offer, particularly wedding photographers.
Because I am starting out and still building my portfolio and gaining experience I do charge less than other photographers. This is not because I believe the quality of my work is bad, but because I want to build my portfolio up quite quickly!
