Frauded us with false reference. Stole large amount of money from us. DO NOT USE THIS MAN. tried to defraud us again for supplies.

It is both reassuring and disconcerting to read the other reviews about Ben. He seems a nice enough guy and we had high hopes for contracting him and his co-director to build our extensions but it appears that he might have bitten more than he could chew. We don't feel he may have deliberately set out to defraud people but he also left us with uncompleted work after having paid him tens of thousands of pounds. We were faced with a construction that did not meet building regulations and we had to pay someone else to finish the job for us!
The most frustrating aspect is his communication or lack thereof! He'll ignore multiple calls and texts and when you do get through, he'll arrange a date to come and complete the work but not show up. When I eventually got through to his co-director, he told me that he was just as frustrated with Ben and had to part ways with Ben because of his lack of integrity.
I don't feel that Ben "bad person" but what came across is that he is certainly an inexperienced businessman with poor customer service, dire organising skills and shameful communicating skills.
The mistake we made was making the final payments before the building regulations inspector gave the green light. If you want anything done promptly and authentically, I would advise to NOT make the final payment UNTIL the building regulations have been signed off. More...

If you are looking for building work, loft conversersions or renovations then I am urging to you avoid BEN DOWDELL at all costs. He operates in the Bristol area under the company name CREATIVE CARPENTRY BRISTOL LTD and uses a black Renault van.

This person has defrauded at least 5 different families by taking their hard earned savings and often fails to complete on the works promised. Further to defrauding customers, he enlists the use of sub-contractors such as chippies, plumbers, electricians, steelworkers, scaffolders and waste removal workers and fails to pay them despite having been paid by the customers.

In our situation he was instructed to build a loft conversion and blatantly ignored the specifications set out by the structural engineer resulting in extra costs being incurred by us to rectify the build and to get building inspectors to sign off.
Furthermore he has failed to pay our scaffolders, steelworkers and skiphire despite having received over £7000 from us for this.
He was given adequate money for materials to supply his employees with and would often supply them with the bare minimum resulting in delays to the build.

This person is a liar and fraudster and deserves to go to jail for the sheer amount of people he has stolen money from. These are honest working people with families to feed and he is exactly why people are hesitant of using tradespeople.
We are now faced with a legal battle and are assisting other defrauded customers by giving them witness statements. More...

Stolen £7000 from us.

Hired this company and its director Ben Dowdell for a hip to gable loft conversion. We paid them £12000 in but only ever recieved £5000 of work which was literally only the scaffolding. Ben has ignored our calls, texts, and left us without a roof for over 4 weeks leaving us having to switch contractors at great expense. Ben now owes us approx £7000 and is refusing to return our money to us. Disgraceful company and director, save your money and go elsewhere.
