We had our replaced end of February 2019. In December 2019, a roofer working on a neighbour’s house approached us to say that the dry verge was coming off on the high apex side of the house which we could not see from our narrow side pathway.
We called Countrywide to report the problem and were advised that someone would call out to check within a couple of days. We followed up with 2 further calls over December to check on when someone would call. No one contacted us and as we were then in the Christmas/New Year period we decided to wait until after the holidays before calling again. We called again on Monday 6 January and were advised that they would call but they would charge £80 if the roofer decided the problem was not Countrywide’s. We advised that was unacceptable, the roof was supposedly under guarantee for workmanship and materials and that there had been no mention of a callout charge during our calls in December. We sent in an email with photos of what could be seen of the dry verge from ground level and asking again for someone to check this out. I have cut and pasted part of the email from Debbie McGarry that reply we received:
‘You called yesterday to advise that someone chapped your door & advised you that a dry verge tile was loose, when we asked you if you could verify that this was correct you stated you could not see your roof & therefor you could not verify that this was the case. If you had advised yesterday that you the client could verify the matter then that is a different matter from someone unknown to you chapping your door’.
No mention was made of our previous telephone calls and clearly the problem is with us, two customers in their 70s who since we are not roofers or capable of climbing a ladder to the apex top of a 2 storey house to check the verge and ‘verify’ that it was indeed falling off should have ignored the advice given to them by a professional roofer working on a neighbour’s roof and who could see our roof from roof level. However we were again promised that someone would visit to check.
Again no one called and we sent further email on 22 January. Yet again, as in December and early January, we were promised that a roofer would contact us to look at the problem. We did receive a call later than week that roofer was in our area and would be with us in ‘a few minutes’. We waited all morning and early afternoon, no one came to house. We called back to the mobile number and were told he had called at our house! No he had not, he did not even know our address only the Post Code and had confused us with a another call he had made. He did arrive the following day and agreed (verified) that there was a problem with the dry verge, he would obtain material and return to fix problem.
Two weeks later on 5 February we again sent email to Countrywide to point out that roofer had not returned and the problem was still not rectified. As at today’s day 12 February we have received no reply or even acknowledgement of that email or a visit from the roofer to repair dry verge.
We choose Countrywide to renew roof because of sales technique, a glossy brochure and the promise of a roof with a 15 year guarantee which we thought would last longer than us. If they refuse to sort out a smallish problem with dry verge what would happen with something more serious? If they continue to ignore us then our only option will be to bring in another roofer and that will invalidate the ’15 year guarantee’ which was supposed to give us peace of mind, Perhaps that is the intention. Done an excellent job of our flat roof replacing the all the wood as some of it was rotting at the goin from next door who had inter feared with it earlier but no proof. The guy’s were up there 3 to 4 days laying a fibreglass flat roof after laying the new wood, that was November 2018 it’s been leaking we noticed since January this year because of the foostie & damp smell.
Phoned them quite a few times but to no avail even my daughter phoned, a John Riley was to get in contact but nothing so far.

All write at time of work except when they damaged my fence with skip dropped facia of wall damegd my alarm roof leaked after 14 months after several phone call sent a letter dated 13th December saying they would be out next week it now 8 januray2020 and no one has come

Avoid at all costs, rubber roof fitted to conservatory and started blowing off in 20 days.phoned every day for fortnight and nobody got back to me, I now have two ponds one in the garden and one on the conservatory roof,once they have your money they could not care less.

After Countrywide did a good job for one of my neighbours,we arranged for them to upgrade the walls of our house and both the price they charged and the quality of the work they done was very good and we have now given them another project to carry out for us

The workmen were courteous and introduced themselves even before they started.They did all the work in two days. The office was also very efficient and cleared up any queries we had immediately. Considering the amount of work involved in replacing a full roof the team did a very efficient job with a minimum of inconvenience for us. Very happy with these Countrywide people, got good price, did really good job & house looks great.

New roof installed November 2018 by January 2019 found the loft space soaking wet. The workmen came and said it was condensation. Said they would fit vents. Numerous calls to the company over the next 2 months just got a receptionist who funnily enough was called Deborah! Who said she would pass it on. The new roof was fitted on 14 January. Due to unsatisfactory finish and lack of communication by the firm after numerous attempts to get some attention, I submitted a detrimental review.
On 22 April, the sub-contractor responsible for replacing the roof attended and rectified the faulty tiles. He also attended to the cause of the roof water leak although we have not had heavy rain since to see if the repair is satisfactory.
The roof is now looking in excellent condition.
The sub-contractor stated that the reason for the delay in rectifying the fault was that he was off work due to a back injury.
This problem could have been overcome had a responsible member of the management of the firm picked up the phone and informed me of the problem. They obviously don't have a Customer Services Department. More...

New roof fitted week commencing 14 January.
3 tiles were subsequently found to be different from the rest of the roof in that they changed colour becoming black. This takes away fro m look of the roof and causes comments from neighbours and visitors.
Subsequently we found that the roof was leaking during rain and required a basin to catch the rain.
Numerous phone calls to Countrywide have failed to resolve the problems. No one has attended to see and replace the defective tiles nor to see about the water leak.
The Company promise you the earth but fail to deliver. There appears to be no proper after-sales service.
It would appear that we will have to have the faulty tiles replaced and the water leak repaired at our personal expense.
