What inspired you to start your own business?
Counterbalance was founded by housing architect Gareth Robert Price in 2021. It was born out of a desire to improve housing design through research and help brownfield sites prevail over greenfield developments in the south east of England. As an architect-led organisation we see it as our social responsibility to use our skills and knowledge to become part of the solution in providing sustainable housing and helping protect our natural environment whilst improving existing urban settlements.

We are a new creative practice that prides itself on being professional, forward-thinking and ambitious for our clients. Believing good design is achieved through clever design rather than expensive materials. Our founders have over 20 years of combined experience being architects and love the process of designing and constructing buildings, especially residential homes. We would love the opportunity to share this passion with you on your project.
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
We can provide remote or in-person services across London, Hampshire and Surrey. We are open to projects outside this area but will always recommend another architect if we feel the project is not right for us and you.
