Run us through the different stages of the Garage conversion process - what's involved?
We love a good garage conversion. It's a straight forward process and you don't normally need planning permission. First off, draw out what you want your conversion to look like (internally and externally) and now what's standing in your way? Usually it's utilities and openings e.g. Windows and doors. We need to consider whether the gas meter and electric need moving and how were going to get electric and possibly plumbing into the kitchen. Once you've decided on what you want, we notify building control (We use Councils or own own) and get them out. We run your plans via them and get the job started. Once all utilities are in/out we start by making any amendments to the roof that maybe required e.g. Velux Windows, spotlights. Then we insulate the roof and walls, board out the room and brick up the old garage door, and add a window (bays look nice). Getting the window to match the house in both style and size is paramount. Now we're watertight we plaster, paint, second fix the electrics and put your radiators on. Of course if there is a toilet or kitchen in the room there is more to it, but for a bedroom or office, you now have a new room in your home. We provide a full kitchen replacement service. We can replace your units and tops or take it back to brick. Our kitchens are AMAZING! We install Howdens and Benchmarx kitchens, we have our own granite/marble company and will even source your appliances on trade accounts.
