This is an inspirational page and educates people about the real deal of counselling and psychotherapy. Definitely recommend this counsellor to anyone who is thinking of seeking an empathic non-judgmental and professional experienced therapist .

Life changing experience!
Therapy has changed my life and my way of thinking for the better in many ways. The therapist Wendy is an amazing person who I found to be very understanding, empathetic and skilled at what she does. At no point have I ever felt judged or looked down on. Wendy has helped me express my feelings and emotions and supported me through a very tough time in my life. Therapy has made me a better, stronger and more grounded person. The therapy room itself is very relaxing and comfortable.
Having no previous experience of this kind of help I was in doubt if this was really going to help.
Talking to a stranger about all my problems how's that going to help... How wrong I was. This was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Highly recommend! Whatever your problems big or small I strongly recommend Safer Base Counselling.

Q&As

The unique and diverse nature of the people I meet. is definitely up there, but I would have to say helping support people to make changes in their lives is the most rewarding thing. When you see people making a shift in their lives, how they feel or how they respond to the world around them, it's incredibly moving and humbling.

While training to be a therapist I had experience through a number of voluntary organisations. I was already aware that counselling through the NHS meant long waiting times, but seeing the same long waiting times in other charity organisations (up to a year in some cases) was so disheartening. I imagined all those people who'd been brave enough to reach out for support and were left waiting. There is a greater need for counselling than there is available counsellors and that need inspired me to start up Compass Rose.

All of the research into what makes counselling effective shows the same result each time - the relationship you have with your therapist is the most important factor. That is why I offer a free consultation for you to come and meet me and get a feel for how it would be to work together. There's no obligation to continue with me after this if it doesn't feel right for you. So I guess the fact that you get to have an experience of counselling with me for free is a big plus, but I would also say that the warm, compassionate and non-judgemental service I offer is another very compelling reason.
