We are very happy with the loft conversion Charlie and the team did for us. Charlie always took the time to talk through any details and decisions that need to be made so we could get exactly what we wanted. He knocked us up some great angled cupboards for an alcove too. We have been impressed with the workmanship and attention to detail, inside and on the roof. And work was done to original schedule. Would recommend! More...

I would like to express my gratitude to Charlie, Lauren, Sam and the rest of the team at CLR Lofts. They have done a brilliant job in converting our loft into an additional bedroom - thank you! The project was fully managed by CLR Loft and it saved us a lot of time. Craftmanship from start to end, so if anyone considers CLR Loft for any home improvements then just do it. You will not regret it and it is well-spent money. More...

A huge thank you to Charlie and Sam for transforming our loft from a storage space to a new living space for our home. They even built us some custom storage to ensure every inch of the space was used to its full potential. Every day they left our house clean and were a pleasure to have round the house over the course of the project. Charlie & Sam will be our first choice for future renovations we have planned! More...

Charlie and Sam have completely renovated our house. They started with the loft which they did an amazing job on. Then transitioned through the rest of the property. I have got nothing but positives to say about them. Had an issue with the roof late in the evening on a weekend, Charlie came out to fix it right away. They are extremely nice to deal with and very honest. They found an old £20 under the floorboards and returned it. We are extremely pleased with the finished work and will be hopefully getting them to do more work for us in the future. More...

The team at CLR lofts transformed our garden recently in time to enjoy it over the summer. We now have a new feather edge fence after ours blew down in the stormy weather, composite decking and Charlie even built us a lovely little pergola with a bench and trellis for plants to grow up. All the work was completed to a really high standard and we’ve had lots of compliments already! The pergola is really sturdy to sit on and is such a brilliant feature to the garden. Everyone on the team was very friendly and professional, I would certainly recommend this company. More...

Q&As

If you have a minimum head height of 2.3m (the measurement taken from the middle of the loft) then you should be suitable for a loft conversion. Of course our surveyor will confirm this with you during their visit. If you have less than this then they surveyor may be able to recommend other ways of maximising your space.

A CLR carpenter will visit property to guide you through your ideas and designs, answer your questions and provide you with their professional advice. You will then receive a pack containing a written quote, a rough design idea, a payment plan to give you an idea of how the payments are divided and a detailed schedule of works. Once the work has been given the go ahead, we will arrange for our architect to visit the property for a full measured survey. A detailed drawing with structural calculations is produced to meet your needs and put your ideas to paper. Once you’re 100% happy, the plans get confirmed and submitted to the local authority for approval. Plans have been approved and a contract is drawn up for you to sign. A loft conversion can take between 6-12 weeks depending on the size and type. The scaffolding is erected in advance. On the start date of the project our friendly workmen will arrive at 8am and the same staff will work on your home until completion. The work always starts with the structure of building; your new loft is boarded and structural steels manufactured and installed as a starting point. Next it’s the timber works, joisting and structural carcassing, first fix, plumbing and electrics. Now It’s time to fit the staircase which means you can now come up and see your new space. Plaster boarding and plastering the walls and ceilings are completed and things like shelves and storage spaces can be added to make the most of your loft. Second fix; things like skirtings, architraves, handrails, bathroom suite, sockets, lights etc. At this point we can comb out those finer details to make sure you are completely happy. We will walk you around the loft to ensure you’re 100% happy. At this point you can confirm that the job is finished or you can request any final tweaks.
The team will tidy up the finished loft and any other areas that they have been using, any excess materials will be cleared and the scaffolding will be taken down. As soon as we receive everything, we send you the final Building Certificate, Electrical Part P and any guarantees for windows etc. To ensure that regulations are being followed correctly, Building Control will make a total of 3 visits whilst the work is being undertaken. Now the job has been completed and you’ve got yourself a smart new addition to your home. The only way is up!

We have 10 years’ worth of expertise and experience in the construction of loft conversions and we can offer a range of services to cater for all your refurbishing needs. We can arrange for architects to design your ideal extension or loft conversion maximizing the space available to you. Our team of experienced and professional tradesmen will then transform your home for you.
