Caroline has completely changed the way we train our dogs, and the relationship we have with them. With her help -- teaching us how to work with our dogs as much as training the dogs themselves -- we now have two wonderfully well-behaved dogs, who we trust, and who trust us completely. Thank you.

Caroline is amazing! She put me right at ease when I came in with my malamute x husky. Very informed and super friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and the aftercare was superb. I very much enjoy keeping her updated with how Aslan gets on, she’s often an experienced ear offering advice wherever possible. I would highly recommend Caroline. X Kirstin and Aslan ❤️ More...

My name is Basil and I am a reactive little terrier rescued from wandering the streets of Porth in the Valleys. I am now between 10 and 12 years old and everyone says you can't teach an old dog new tricks. ..but let me tell you this....doing the Prickly Pooches course with Caroline and lots of similar doggies has been great for me and my owner. We've learnt loads, made some great friends (doggy as well as human ones) and the best thing of all is having a great support network. Knowing you aren't the only ones in the world who have got issues to sort really helps motivate you! We've also done some of the follow on workshops plus the fantastic RiiActive workshop....great fun and even if I say so myself I was pretty nifty balancing my way across the wobble boards! Although I will never be perfect (well who is) I am loads better than I was and Caroline and her team have helped me get there. More...

Having never owned a dog before, we had no idea what to do or how to behave when Sid, our rescued Westie, reacted badly to other dogs. Caroline's Prickly Pooches course and practice sessions were brilliant. The sessions gave us confidence, by teaching us how to avoid or deal with difficult situations and how to recognise the signs to show us Sid was getting stressed, and gave him a chance to meet other reactive dogs in a safe and controlled environment. We realised that it was us who needed the training, far more than Sid. A couple of years on and we rarely have a problem, but just occasionally, he meets a dog he doesn't like the look of, or doesn't like the look of him, and we can deal with it quickly and effectively, thanks to Caroline and her guidance. Our rescue dog Molly was very reactive on a lead with lunging, pulling, loud (and very embarrassing!) yelping and whining. Lead walks were difficult and stressful and weekends were restricted because we couldn't take her anywhere with us. We've worked on it for 2 years but nothing helped until Caroline's Prickly Pooches course. The classes provided a safe and controlled environment around other dogs and we learned things we needed to do differently. There's plenty of ongoing support and practice after the course via group sessions with Caroline, walks organised by other attendees and a Facebook group. We have years of reactive conditioning to undo but in a few months, Molly is already like a different dog and we even took her on holiday to West Wales recently which we'd never have considered! Highly recommend Caroline and her training methods More...

We have over the years, used many of Cardiff canine citizens services. From workshops, puppy classes to prickly pooches which has been extremely helpful! Without caroline I'm sure we'd still be struggling to understand our little girl! She was kind, sympathetic &I above all supportive. A thoroughly worthwhile experience. She's professional, knowledgeable and above all responsible. Her teaching methods are fun and provide both mental and physical stimulation to both handler and dog alike. We wouldn't hesistate to recommend her to anyone! Definitely the best we have in the canine industry! More...

Caroline is the most knowledgable and patient dog behaviouralist. We have been lucky enough to attend many of her courses and have learnt so much about our canine companions. I'm sure our dog would not be as well socialised and a pleasure ro be with had it not been for puppy school and prickly pooches. I love that Caroline makes learning fun for both the dog and me. She made me feel so much more confident as did the ladies who helped .Thank you all . More...

Caroline is a properly qualified behaviourist and trainer with many, many years experience. You can tell she genuinely wants the best outcome for dogs, and she's an easy person to get along with. I was relieved to find her as there are a number of unqualified people around Cardiff calling themselves 'dog trainers' using harsh methods that cause problems. I won't hesitate to seek Caroline's help again if I adopt another dog and it has any issues I need advice for. More...

We came to Caroline with 2 reactive dogs. Her one to one sessions and Prickly Pooches classes have been invaluable for helping our dogs learn a better way to react to stressers, and has taught us how to work with, and understand our dogs better.

Caroline understands dogs in a natural skill way and in a highly trained way. Helped us go from puppy chaos to a very well trained dog and we also enjoyed extra courses for fun which were great. We had issues with our dog being very sick every time she got in the car, vets answer was to give my dog sickness pills v Caroline who showed us how to therapy her into not being scared anymore. My dog now goes on holidays with us. I always recommend her to new owners without hesitation. More...

My dog used to bark at other dogs, lunging and pulling on his lead. By the time Caroline was recommended to me, I was at my wit's end. Firstly, Caroline helped me be a calmer, more supportive owner, then she helped me help my dog by recognising his signals, his anxieties and his reactions. He is a much calmer happier dog and I'm a much calmer happier owner and I can't thank Caroline enough. More...

Patch is a very energetic little Jack Russell terrier. Right from the word go we knew that we didn't want to be one of those people you see out and about where their dogs are more in control or indeed just uncontrollable. We took the decision to socialise Patch as early as possible and get help with basic training. We asked our local vets who immediately recommended Caroline and CardiffCanineCitizens as one, if not the best classes for dog training in South East Wales. So we booked Patch into the Puppy foundation class and off we went. Our first session included lots of theory and basic do's and dont's regarding your dog. All very useful information and immediately usable. We then took Patch along to the first actual session where we were flabbergasted to find that Patch could be taught to sit, lie down amongst other things in under an hour!!. The social side was really good too, Patch met a variety of other dogs, all bigger than him which has helped put him in his place! The lessons carried on over six weeks, and were always fun, and in a controlled environment. Whenever anyone had questions or problems Caroline would not only be able to tell you the answer but the underlying reason which made things understandable and left no room for doubt. Over the six weeks Patch has come on in leaps and bounds, he's a very sociable little dog now and is mostly very well behaved (He is a terrier so he does have a stubborn streak.. ) He knows whats expected of him thanks to things we learned in class and this in turn makes his and our lives better. We are so pleased with CardiffCanineCitizens that we've decided to take Patch along for further classes and now that he has his Foundation certificate we have already enrolled him up for the puppy returners Bronze level class. We cannot recommend Caroline and CardiffCanineCitizens enough!! A quick note - CardiffCanineCitizens dont just offer puppy training, but also work with adult dogs, rescue dogs and even have classes for dogs with problem behaviour. We understand that agility classes etc are also on offer so may go down that route too. Once again a huge thank you to Caroline.Regards Paul and Luca. More...

Just to say a huge thankyou to Caroline for all her help with making my gorgeous girl Dora a good citizen. We have been through puppy foundation class and tonight completed the Bronze award. I had never had a dog before Dora and so did not have a clue where to start. Within days of having Dora I had a very helpful call with Caroline with some good advice, even at that stage. Through puppy class and Bronze I picked up loads of tips and advice on dealing with issues such as recall and house training, although that area still needs some work, and learning to control Dora more, for example when going through a door or at a road. It's been absolutely brilliant and Dora has come on leaps and bounds. Ooh and a huge thankyou for introducing Dora to the love of her life Pip. (the two little Shih Tzu's in the photo on here are Dora and Pip). They absolutely love each other. :-) Shame he's been done as they would have made gorgeous Shih Tzu pups. Thankyou again Caroline... I have a feeling we'll be back for silver. More...

I have taken my collie puppy through the Puppy Foundation class, and also my older collie through Bronze, working for Silver and then hopefully for Gold. Caroline is patient and very knowledgeable - there have been many various breeds in the classes and all of them - and the owners - have been treated with respect and help with their differing problems. I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Caroline to anyone who wants to train their dog, or who has any training issues. I recently took one of our three rescue greyhounds through both Bronze and Silver KC Good Citizen classes. Caroline's tuition was excellent. She was calm, professional and made the classes lots of fun. We both learned a great deal and I would have no hesitation in recommending her to anyone with a dog. In particular, Caroline is fully aware of modern training methods and does not use any aversive methods, which is great. She recognises the differing motivations of dogs (some for food, some for praise) and her classes are flexible to allow for this. Class venue is easy to find and has ample parking nearby. More...

I was present at the training session which your referring to and have attended many of these classes with previous dogs. I cannot believe what you’re claiming the version of events was . You were late for the class and were argumentative and rude from the outset! You claimed Caroline directed you to the wrong address but as we all received the same directions and managed to find the venue without a problem it shows that you’re not the 'great navigator' you claimed to be. Everyone was in utter disbelief at how you behaved and your poor puppy looked terrified! your behaviour would be more suited to a football stadium as when Caroline had to escort you from the venue and closed the door so that she could continue with the session you had disrupted you kicked the door and shouted profanities. Caroline handled the situation in a calm and professional manner not once did she become aggressive, abusive or act inappropriately. I was thoroughly enjoying the class as was my puppy until you tried to disrupt it as Caroline makes the classes informative but fun which is why I'd highly recommend her. Thankfully we can all continue to enjoy the course without your presence. More...

I have benefitted from Carolines experience both with previous dogs and now a young puppy, I returned to Caroline with the new pup as a result of the help and kindness we as a family experienced from Caroline. I was there on the night in question by the previous review and must say that the review is a totally inaccurate account of events, the person arrived over half an hour late for the class entered shouting and coused disruption to the class and upsetting some younger people and children in attendance. As I recall it was not Caroline who was shoutin abusive or using foul language, yes the person had got lost but Caroline had invited them into the class and made it clear they were welcome and would obviously not pay for that class, but instead of taking a seat the person continued to shout and was eventually asked to leave because of the disruption and upset being caused to the other people there. The majority of the people there had already gone through the puppy foundation with Caroline and now back for a second course I believe that speaks for itself.I have no hesitation in recommending Caroline to anyone especially when people comment on how well my dog obeys a command for such a youn pup.I believe the previoous review is totally unfounded and in my opinion Caroline acted in a very professional manner in what was a most uncomfortable situation.
