Failure to complete, chasing refund and materials
I feel compelled to share my disappointing experience with CDHI Home Improvements to help others make informed decisions.
I hired them for a garden room project, which began on the 19th of February, with an agreed completion timeline of 10 days. Unfortunately, it's still unfinished, with the company unable to fulfil its promise.
The owner, Carl, recently informed me that he "no longer has any time in my schedule for us to complete" the project. He attributed these delays to cash flow issues, raising concerns about the company's ability to manage their workload and finances effectively. This situation has forced me to seek another supplier for the following uncompleted tasks:
- Laying flooring and installing skirtings
- Fitting a washroom and macerator
- Installing the fascia and guttering
- Installing skylight windows
- Completing necessary plumbing work
Further compounding the issue, I had previously sent over £500 for the purchase of windows, which Carl has continually delayed. His recent promise of "next Friday" remains unfulfilled. The financial implications are significant, with around £1200 to £2000 worth of work pending. Despite requesting a refund, Carl's response was disheartening: "I'm not in a position to refund thousands unfortunately." He suggested settling this through instalments, contingent upon his approval of the new quotes I obtain.
Given these circumstances, I've sought legal counsel from Taylor Rose solicitors to explore my options. While Carl might seem personable, my experience strongly suggests that hiring CDHI Home Improvements might be a regrettable decision.

How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
Anything wider than 7 feet and longer than 10 feet can easily be converted into either a Home Office or gym 
Run us through the different stages of the Garage conversion process - what's involved?
Correcting the walls ensuring they are clean and ensuring you damp proof the floor, then lay a subfloor and frame the walls ready to have plasterboard fitted. You would then hire a qualified electrician to run your lights and sockets to your desired locations and Once completed, insulate, soundproof and plaster board the space.

12 years as a bespoke carpenter, 9 years as an electricain and 7 years as a network engineer, locksmith, security engineer, kitchen fitter and general builder
