How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
Majority of garages can be converted, depending on conversion required reflects on cost. We are more than happy to arrange a visit and advise accordingly at no cost.
Key Factors -
Does the external wall have a cavity or single brick ?
Is the garage integral or detached from main property ?
What is the roof structure ?
Sub structure floor condition ?
Any other entrance other than Garage Door itself ?
Any existing windows ?
Any existing power ?
Run us through the different stages of the Garage conversion process - what's involved?
Assess all aspects initially, then remove the garage door in its entirety creating a main opening. If an internal door is to be created to existing house, this will be marked out and stich-drilled ready for opening. Where the garage door originally was locate the existing footing, run a couple of courses of brickwork matching existing. Insulate and screed floor to levels. Complete brickwork to opening forming new window opening. Cut out and create new door opening to existing, fit new window. New access now to doorway formed. 1st fix electrical and 1st fix plumbing (if required). Plasterboard / Insulate throughout, prior to fully plaster. Fit / Hang door to new opening (if door required), 2nd fix electrics and 2nd fix plumbing. Test / Commission / Snag / complete...
