Bentley Roofing and Building

My husband hired these guys as they were put forward to us by our landscape gardener. I'm always careful when it comes to hiring tradesmen but after being recommended them and meeting Mark and Ben, I was quickly feeling confident as they seem to put you at ease with how they handle themselves. The workmanship is definitely something to be proud of and you can tell that Mark the father has taught his son and workers extremely well. Just an all-round great experience Ii we have no complaints what so ever. Marks' stories are also amusing and fun to listen to. Thanks a lot, you guys, you deserve a pat on the back.

Great job, very responsive with the initial contact, and sorted everything out without fuss. Even tried to help out by working around timings with our newborn when sleeping with the noise situation. Top guys and really impressed

The strong winds were clearly a patch too strong for the apparent already weak chimney, which seemed to have just given up! As if this wasn’t bad enough, it also led to a mini feud with my neighbour as to who would foot the cost. Ben and his team came to the rescue after I was recommended the company. Found the Bentley team after a google search for roofers in the local area. I had a read of the reviews and was impressed by what others had said, and it was all true! From enquiry to completion it was a period of a week. Ben responded to my initial email within hours of me sending it. He and his brother then popped over the following morning to inspect the roof and to price it. I was keen to get the work done quickly, especially due to the forecasted bad weather we are meant to have this week. The call to the scaffolders was made by Ben literally as he was walking off my drive. Really impressed with the speed, efficiency, pride and careful consideration in ben’s work. Firstly I have to make it plain, this company has no connection to me, save for the fact we share the same name, and what a name it is! When you think of Bentley, you think of heritage, history, and importantly, class. It has to be said that this roofing company has not let the Bentley name down. I had delayed getting my bathroom done, and there was a leak in one of the pipes under the shower, which meant that I was getting damp, so I needed it done asap.

I had ended up with this company by chance, as the original firm I had in mind had conjured up an estimate which meant that I would need a private bank manager at Coots to fund! Bentley Roofing & Building was the second quote that I had got, and I decided to go with them.

Ben and his boys were fantastic. Salt of the earth types. These lads are still not cheap, but what you great is a great service and an even greater finish.

Ben and his men bring not only years of experience in their craftmanship, but a genuine pride in the excellence of their work - your roof will be the envy of you postcode, let alone your street. Their installation was faultless, respectful and very tidy. Apart from the scaffolding, you hardly realised they were there! The workmanship was first class, and we have had zero issues. We recently had a small problem with some trim coming loose which Ben organised to fit within 24hrs. This company really was my knight in shining armour. They came to the rescue when the company I had originally hired kept letting me down, and made excuse after excuse, and simply failed to show up when they promised. Enough was enough, so I found this company from an online search. Ben called me back straight away, and arranged to come over and inspect the property. He had the lads in working 2 days later! No shying away from the little bit of drizzle we had had, instead just hard work from him and his team. Gallant effort, and truly a great job. I don't know why I didn't go with this company from the start! If you're looking for honest, reliable and hard-working men to work on your property, then they are for you. I was a little annoyed at first as I was told Kirk and Ben were going to do my roof themselves as I had already met them when they came to price the job at the beginning. The work was meant to start on the Monday after the scaffolding was put up. Neither Kirk nor Ben came on the first day. Instead, they had sent their workers, Tyler and Joe. On first impressions, I have to say I was a little concerned. Firstly, the men who I had hired were not doing the work or at least weren’t there on the first day. Secondly, I was worried that Tyler didn’t seem old enough, or experienced enough to be doing such a complex job. I’m sorry if that sounds judgmental, but that’s just how I felt at the time.

After a couple of days, I began to realise that these two young men knew exactly what they were doing. I was put at ease after having a proper conversation with Tyler and found out he wasn’t as young as he looked and had, in fact, had been doing roofing since he had left school, which was a fair few years. Ben and Kirk did come by a few days later to check on the job and make sure it was running smoothly, which, of course, it was.

I have to say, Kirk and Ben, what lovely young men you have working with you. Tyler and Joe were a delight to have around and were very polite. They even asked me on various occasions if the radio was at an acceptable level and whether it was disturbing me. Very courteous young men indeed and I even said to my own son to take a leaf out of their book.

Splendid job, well done, and sorry for my rambling on.

As far as a 5-star job goes, this business, and the men who are affiliated with it are in my opinion very well adept and go far beyond what I was expecting. I’m always sceptical when it comes to trusting people, especially when it comes to my home, and also when my money is concerned. I felt comfortable from the moment I spoke with these guys. I felt comfortable, and that I was in safe hands, so much so that I let them have a key to my home, so that they could gain access to the parts of the house that they needed to work on, without having to rely and/or wait around for me or my partner to let them in, or to lock up. I must admit that I have never before given access to my property to a tradesperson. But I got to know the team very well over the period in which they were working with me, and I had great trust in Ben especially, that I felt comfortable enough to do that. Even though they had the run of the house as it were, they were nevertheless respectful, insofar as they respected the street where I live, and did not start work at the crack of dawn, nor did they work into the depths of night so as to disturb my neighbours, something which I was paranoid and concerned about initially. In-fact, I believe that Bentley Roofing and Building have just been approached about taking on a job for a neighbour!

Their work and the team are nothing short of 5 stars. Glad to have found this company, and the number is certainly a must-have in any call-list for work that needs doing. More...

Hi Ben, so sorry for taking so long to write this review, I was stuck abroad because of Covid, and have only seen your emails! So, what can I say about the work you did for me? Apart from it was ruddy marvellous! I have to say the heavens opened as soon as you stepped off my driveway, and the roof is still intact (hurrah!), and I've managed to keep the buckets in the cupboards (which is more than I can say before we got you and your dad in!). I felt like I was trapped in a scene of Steptoe & Son! Those of you taking your time to read my review, all I can say is, STOP READING AND GET DIALLING! Cannot fault this company at all. We have used Bentley Roofing for a few of our home improvements over the years, initially using Ben’s dad’s company, and now Bentley Roofing. You can certainly tell where Ben gets his flare and passion for what he does. No job is left unless and until it is perfect. We anitially had this job booked in for March the 27th this year, but due to our countries crises this was put on hold. This really messed up a lot of things for me and my family and I'm sure this was the same for Bentley Roofing and Building. Ben was extreamly understanding and completely and utterly helpful in every way possible, not to mention patient. I want to say that this young man dealt with this situation better then I think most people would have. Money not being paid out and materials getting held up have been a big problem but I didn't feel pressured or I wasn't hassled once. This says a lot about a person so I just want to say thank you for a smashing job and also for the way you conducted yourself.
It's not everyday you see such good work acumen.

Firstly I have to apologise to Ben for the delay in posting this review! Particularly when the work done, and the team were outstanding. I had had a lot of issues in the past with ‘cow-boy’ builders, and the work that I needed was in fact to correct a botched job. I was very reluctant to hire someone, especially as I was effectively having to pay for the same job twice. This company were recommended to me, and having been stung, I will only go on recommendations. All I can say is that they lived up to their reputation. I found Ben to be very sympathetic when I told him about my concerns. I felt comfortable that I was paying simply for what needed to be done and wasnt going to get screwed over. In fact I think Ben even took on some of the costs himself and I wasn’t charged for the scaffolding, which was a massive help financially and completely unexpected. Thank you Ben and the boys. Unfortunately someone drove into our fencing when they lost control of their car as our house sits on a bend and completely destroyed it. I sent pictures of the front perimeter where I wanted the new wall to go up, and he was able to give me ideas of the sort of brick and height. Ben came round the next day and started work the following morning with his dad Mark. The work was done in under a week. Happy with the work, and feel safer with the brick rather than the fencing we had initially. More...

This review was a long time coming! We hired the Bentley brothers to build a car port on one of our properties which we are letting out, so the time-frame was super tight as we needed the build done before the new tenants moved in. From the day of getting the quote, to work being completed, was 10 days. They were able to fit us in, meaning that Ben had to take on two additional labourers just to help with my time-frame, rather than making me wait for their other jobs to finish. Very considerate and I appreciated that.

My garage roof was in a desperate state. I had put getting the work done because of tight finances, but had finally got round to calling a few companies to get quotes. Bentley Roof weren’t the cheapest quote that I had got, but the reviews that I had read about their work meant that I was happy to pay that little bit extra. And I’m glad that I did. Had a leak yesterday and called around 3 to 4 companies that were local to Richmond. Seems to me that if you are known to be desperate and you need help, it's a sign for tradesman to over charge, which I think is unfair. Having rung round I was surprised at Bentley Roofing and Building, the quote was what seemed to be very fair considering the prices from the rest of the companies. I went with these guys and they fitted me in yesterday evening and solved my problem. It was only a broken tile but to me it was a big issue sorted and now I can relax. If you need any roofing repairs don't hesitate to use this business.

Had my gutters and fascias replaced which needed scaffolding.
Mark arranged everything and all I had to do was wait until they was finished with the job and sort payment. All the rubbish was collected apart from a length of gutter which they come back for a few days later. Cant fault this company and will use again if I need anything doing.

Hired these lads after one of our neighbours had used them. Needed a new flat roof after putting it off for a while...which probably wasn’t the wisest of moves! The quote for the work that needed doing was reasonable and justified. You could tell they weren’t trying to pull a fast one and ‘make a quick buck’. Hiring a roofer may be expensive, but what you pay for is what you get, and Bentley Roofing are stellar. I’ve never left a review for anything before, but I felt as though this was deserved. From my first dealings with them, I received nothing but short of professionalism. I had made an enquiry after seeing their company page online. It took me a while before I made that first contact as I wanted to make sure that the company I hired for the work I needed weren’t cow-boys! I’ve read and heard about too many horror stories, and that wasn’t a risk I was prepared to take. But, doing my homework paid off. The work was completed within the initial estimate I was given, which during this period was very helpful, as lockdown has meant that my finances were strained. I was a little worried to have tradesman round the house due to the current crises with Covid.
I was also reassured that extra measures were put in place to keep me and my family safe and put at the minimal amount of risk. I decided to go with the Bentley team as they conducted themselves very professional on the phone and when they came to look at the actual job. From first contact to completing the job I can honestly say this business was very pleasant to deal with. Mark especially was very polite and knew what he was talking about and made me feel very comfortable with the whole process. I will be using again and defiantly would recommend.
