Wouldn't have known where to start with any of our plans but Iain Penman came recommended to us by our builder and so glad he did. He understood exactly what we wanted to achieve with our garage conversion and completed all of the necessary paperwork and association with the council planning department, quickly completing everything and getting all of the necessary information to our builder. Iain understood I had no concept of any of this and spoke in layman terms so I understood everything along the way. He created great drawings for our builder clearly showing everything we discussed and i look forward to seeing the finished result.

Like many other people we were trying to find an architect for our extension.
We were recommended Iain from Architectural plans by a friend who had recently used him.
We had a fairly good idea what we wanted and with Iain's input he changed a few things round and we are very happy with the end result.
We wanted a rear and partial side extension and a roofline which would not obscure our upstairs bedroom window, and would have as little impact on our neighbours as possible.
The result is we have a great extra living space, along with a good sized shower room and utility room.
Iain took full advantage of the extra ceiling height in all rooms and we now have a coombed ceiling in our living space with French doors making it a fantastic extra space.

I usually don't take the time to fill in reviews, everybody wants one. However in this instance in recognition of the excellent service and swift turnaround of the service we received, i actually offered to do this.
Iain's service from the initial home visit throe to first draft plan was excellent. His advice was clear and concise. His knowledge and project experience is broad.
He offered suggestions , we had not considered and helped shape our project, which was a kitchen\utility/downstairs bathroom and shower room.
Iain was always available for questions and even our builder was impressed with the level of detail and straightforward layout of the final plans.

We contacted Iain from Architectural Plans Ltd to help us with a building warrant application for some minor alteration works we wanted to carry out to our house. Having no idea what the process involved, Iain talked us through it in detail step by step, before we’d even formally asked him to carry out the work. This was really appreciated in getting us up to speed on what was involved, and ultimately putting our minds at ease. Iain then completed a prompt survey of the home and prepared the first set of drawings for us. We wanted to build a front porch extension with a downstairs toilet and a side extension to double the size of our galley style kitchen, and Iain Penman was highly recommended to us by a number of friends who had used him. On deciding to undertake some renovations to my flat I contacted Iain Penman of Architectural Plans Ltd. Having had no experience of what is involved I was somewhat apprehensive about the proposition, but that changed when I got in contact with Iain.

My plan was to create a lounge/kitchen area which involves the removal of a wall and conversion of an unused office. I also wanted to install an en-suite. My first point of call was a spec email through the company website, and I received a quick reply. After a brief email exchange, I spoke to Iain on the phone who articulated in a precise and professional manner what would be involved. Iain then sent out a proposed invoice that gave me a clear breakdown of services and a detailed payment schedule. On agreement of terms, Iain visited my property and conducted extensive drawings of the flat and we had a comprehensive discussion of what it was I wanted. The finished drawings were in my inbox a few days later and after a few adjustments they were ready to be submitted to planning.

Iain is concise, knowledgeable and expeditious. His conduct has been exemplary, and I would strongly recommend anyone (especially novices like myself) to employ his services.

Iain Penman was recommended to us by some friends who had a loft conversion done. We were looking to get a 2 storey extension done and attach it to our existing out building. Straight away Iain set our expectations in line with our budget, and we realised that our original idea would have been beyond our means. With his valued input, we were able to round upon a single storey extension, that had a bigger footprint meaning more space and that more money could be set by for a good finish, without exhausting our budget which would have probably forced us to compromise elsewhere.

Throughout Iain was easy to contact, listened to what we wanted, kept us well informed, and took us right through the planning process to application and building warrant.

We had issues with achieving completion and Iain was able to assist with our amendments to.

Iain's clearly communicated quote was very competitive compared to other agencies we contacted, however what really sold us was his positivity about the project and willingness to discuss ideas before money changed hands. This warmth and generosity continued throughout.
During every stage of the process Iain has provided a helpful, friendly and diligent service. We have had issues with the planning department as well as with some engineering aspects of the project and Iain worked tirelessly to resolve these, going well beyond his remit and continuing long after we had settled his fee.
