What do you love most about your job?
Working with a great team of people who are committed to delivering 100% customer satisfaction at all times. Bringing a new product to the market place is a difficult process with a lot of ups and downs but when you have a product like the Airdeck system which offers so many benefits to our customers compared to scaffolding, from massive savings on costs, storage costs, transportation costs, time to erect the Airdeck system and safety to name but a few of the benefits, is great to see how happy this makes our customers. From the first Airdeck system which I invented approximately 6 years ago there have been major changes to the system which now sees it bigger, stronger, lighter and 90% of the system is built from the ground. We have also developed a system which can be used to build metal storage containers and this system is build 100% from the ground. This all adds to the safety aspect of the Airdecks system along with the fact that it is an added security to properties unlike scaffolding as the only way to gain access onto the Airdeck system is via a ladder and when the ladder is removed you cannot get onto the Airdeck system. As it is not ground mounted it doesn't cause any obstructions to pedestrians or vehicles when erected. I like meeting new people and explaining all about the benefits of the Airdeck system , then seeing their face when we erected it for them is priceless and worth getting out of bed for everyday.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Having run my own building business in the past, scaffolding has always been a very expensive item to use for builders. I was looking at carrying out re-roofing a property approximately 6 years ago and after getting numerous prices from scaffolding companies to supply and fit a scaffold around the property, I was shocked at the prices I was being quoted. At this point I decided that there must be a better, cheaper and stronger alternative to scaffolding so I set out to design a product to meet these demands. After numerous designs were created and thrown in the bin I came up with the Airdeck system which has been tested and certificated to the safe working load, patented and trademarked and has now been further refined which sees it bigger, strong and lighter and 90% of it is built from the ground.
