I joined in April 2018. My New Years resolution was to take something up not to give something up. 10 months later I cannot live without Salsa and Bachata (which is another beautiful Latin American Dance). Love my classes and the mix of people that attend them. If you want to learn to dance and meet people of the same ilk then Acemedia d Salsa is recommended by a person who came in with an open mind. Absolutely brilliant, friendly and social salsa club that has changed our social life wonderfully. We love it. Some people join as couples like we did ourselves, but plenty of individuals come along too so please don't be intimidated. Everything works . We've made such a lovely group of mates there and have had some excellent nights out. It's a great workout as well. We've done almost all of our classes with Jamie who is a fantastic teacher. 10 out of 10 without a doubt. I've been taking Salsa lessons with Shannon, and Bachata lessons with Sergio and Patricia. Both styles are lots of fun, love the music, and the tutors are fantastic. There's also lots of opportunity for social dancing in clubs around Glasgow, and lots of great events throughout the year. More...

Every year we hold an annual team building conference at our workplace and this year Shannon provided us with a salsa workshop. It was the highlight of the day. Shannon's bubbly persona had everyone engaged and having fun in no time. Even the most hesitant of us got involved and my the end of the session we were all dancing and laughing together. Professional, supportive teachers,fun classes.
Met some amazing people and made good friends through the experience.
Don't get out as often as I used to but always made to feel welcome when I do, to some fabulous events and classes.

I hired Shannon to dance at an event 8 years ago, and accidentally arrived at one of her classes 4 years ago. She is the ultimate professional, a phenomenal dancer, and a lovely person too, and has built an excellent salsa scene in Glasgow. She works hard at both her Acadamy and social nights, attending many every week, adding to the already great atmoshere. Academia De Salsa is like an old friend. Even if you have a period of absence, as soon as you return you're welcomed with open arms and can pick up exactly where you left off. I started absolute beginners lessons, on my own, about a year and a half ago and haven't looked back. Shannon and all her instructors are fab and very patient and I have met so may people along the way, some of whom have become good friends. A big unexpected bonus was finding out through going to classes about the salsa social scene in Glasgow, where you can practice what you have learnt in classes. Learning to dance salsa and bachata at Academia de Salsa was life-changing. I've met so many great people in class and out social dancing at Academia events. I've done more exercise in one year than I have in the previous 10 - dancing is addictive! The teachers are fantastic - kind, thorough, and funny, and each teacher has their own style of dancing and teaching so you're always learning new aspects of the dance - a special shout-out to Colin and Cameron who taught me the foundations of salsa and bachata respectively. I used to go to Havana in Hope St and looked in awe at the dancers thinking I would never be able to dance like that. Havana closed down and I forgot about it until I went to Barca in Princes Square for dinner when people were handing out flyers to take up salsa dancing. 11 months later, I go to classes twice a week, Barca is now my favourite Friday night haunt as they have socials the first and last Friday of every month, Ad Lib is every Saturday night and every so often I go to Sunday socials at Arta and La Rambla in Paisley. People of all abilities go to the socials and the more experienced dancers are happy to dance with beginners. Everyone will tell you - go to as many socials as possible, the more practice you get the better you become. To top it all off, i have made some fantastic friends, our group all get on so well and the majority of us have now taken up bachata which we love. I wasn’t brave enough to start lessons alone but I needn’t have worried, males and females of all ages start alone and are put at ease immediately- that’s not to say that couples aren’t welcome too! I could say so much more about what a positive addition dancing has been to my life and I look forward to 2018 and the continuation of my love for salsa. As a single man and one of the older age groups, it was with trepidation that I took my first steps into Salsa, I should not have worried as from day one Shannon and Academia de Salsa made me feel welcome, Shannon put`s you at ease wether you are a beginner, intermediate or advance, you are given time, there is no pressure so you learn at your own pace, No partner, no problem as there are plenty of dance partners available, in Salsa there are no age barriers we are all there for the love of the dance, regardless of what level you attain you will always have a great night with Shannon and Academia De Salsa. I wanted to get back into dancing and was encouraged to try out these classes. With the encouragement of a friendly atmosphere, great teachers who give more than they are asked, good laugh at times and a bit of hard work and not forgetting the music that gets you moving. I find they have given me so much confidence , fitness and energy and a brilliant friends and fun. I have been attending salsa classes since January 2017, fabulous, fantastic friendly instructors and I have met amazing new people. It's great to learn and go dance at the social nights and organised events. Definitely don't need a partner and everyone learns together. I made the decision to join the group after my friend at work told me about it. I absolutely LOVE IT!!! Like everyone who has been there, I was very nervous about starting, but once I got started there was no stopping my enjoyment shining through. The instructors are great and make things easy to learn and everyone in class is so friendly, as well as those I'm meeting at social events and also at the Christmas night, which was incredible. I joined beginners Salsa just over 2 months ago & I am loving it. The price for the classes is decent. Will who has taken most of my classes is a great teacher, a brilliant dancer & a good laugh! Also Shannon took one of my classes, she’s also very lovely. I have yet to go to a night out, but it’s on my to do list. I go myself to the classes & I urge anyone who may not be confident enough to go for it as it’s very friendly for individuals, friends & couples. It’s for all ages also, and everyone is made to feel very welcome by teachers & the people attending. I am on my second course of classes now & as a class I feel we’ve come so far, i’m proud of us!
