Allicia has been a breathe of fresh air to us over the last 6mths. Our son was ‘keeping up’ at school but seemed to be having to work extra hard to do so. I was doing my best to do extra work with him at home to help support his learning, but this brought its stresses as I wasn’t sure I was teaching him the right stuff in the right way and he was getting frustrated as it wasn’t quite the same as what they were doing at school. We needed some help to make sure that any extra time we spent learning outside of school was effective. Our son was slightly reluctant about starting with a tutor as he wondered why he should have to do extra when others didn’t. However, as soon as he’d had his first hour with Allicia he was instantly reassured and happy to continue with the lessons. Allicia makes the learning fun while also ensuring the hour is used fully. Allicia and our son’s teacher communicate via a notebook so that they can share information about what is being covered in class, what needs to be reinforced in the tutor lesson and progress made in both settings. This has worked amazingly well and our son has managed to hit and exceed his expected targets for the year which is wonderful but most importantly this was achieved without the frustration and stress that we were all experiencing before. What do you love most about your job?
I love seeing how a student can transform their confidence within a matter of lessons. I find 1-1 tutoring incredibly rewarding as every aspect of the learning can happen at the pupils pace. I love helping children and young adults realise their own potential.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I have always tutored alongside teaching in state schools. Over the years, I've seen the need for quality, trained tutors increase. I believe this is partly due to the increasing demand of standardised testing and the lack of funding in state schools to provide enough teachers to ensure all students progress.

I am a friendly, caring and motivated tutor who wants the best from her students. I truly care about them and love seeing their successes.
