About

I started my business after my dad passed away and the reality of Wills & Probate hit our family. Because of my legal background, I navigated things fairly easily but I know that things can be very tricky if you're not familiar with legal terminology;

Great service. Everything was explained in plain language at the start, and I felt totally confident in Lisa and her guidance through the process of draughting our wills. Would not hesitate to recommend.

I contacted A Legal Edge for some advice on wills last year and was given so much help. I was comprehensively guided through every step for the wills of myself and my husband. Lisa wasn’t settled until everything was triple checked. I have already recommended A Legal Edge and would do again. More...

Lisa drafted wills for three of our family this year. She took the time to understand what we wanted - which was more complex than a typical will - dealt with any questions really promptly and clearly, and delivered for a really good price. Thanks Lisa.

I would highly recommend Lisa for her will writing service. We approached her last year for advice on a mirror will and she responded straight away to explain everything we didn’t already understand fully, making sure everything was clear before she wrote our wills. She is very professional, understanding and doesn’t make you feel rushed to make decisions. Communication has been great, with Lisa responding quickly to messages and e-mails. More...

2020 was a really testing year and 2021 still is, which really got me thinking... If anything happened to me, what would my partner (fiance) and children get of my assets, plus if anything happened to me and my partner together what would happen to my children, so for peace of mind I spoke to Lisa, who was amazing and sent me a list of questions in order to produce my WILL Lisa was very communicative and any queries I had she helped me, we also changed the WILL a couple of times to meet my needs and requests. I'm now at peace of mind with my written WILL. Thank you Lisa xx More...

If your feeling at all anxious about someone writing your will then look no further. Lisa made sure everything ran smoothly and was very professional throughout. As a widow I had no husband to discuss this with but Lisa guided me all the way through advising me of all my options. I can highly recommend A Legal Edge. Thank you Lisa More...

Q&As

Getting to speak to clients and them having the realisation that I'm down to earth with the ability to have a laugh despite our subject matter!

The loss of my dad and the breakup of my marriage within one month of each other made for quite a dramatic and low start to the year 2020. Throwing a pandemic into the mix wasn't great either! But these things inspired me to drive myself forward and use my qualifications and skills to set up on my own so that I can work around my three children and help people get their affairs into order to avoid the pitfalls I'm only too aware of.

Choose me if you appreciate straight talking, a good chat and open and honest conversations about after life. In the words of Joan Rivers, "Life is tough, so you better laugh at everything"

I conduct all of my consultations initially on the phone to take a few details and discuss your reasons for requesting a Will Writing Service. I then set up an online consultation via Zoom, Teams etc to take full instructions on a date of your choosing. I have weekend and evening availability too which many of my clients have found very useful.

I operate solely online and provide Covid safe instructions on signing and witnessing your final documents.

Services

Whatever your circumstances, everyone should have a will. Avoiding intestacy, Inheritance Tax and ensuring your wishes are carried out after your death can feel like difficult matters to consider, but once addressed can be put to rest.

Leaving bereaved family members to navigate the rules of intestacy can prove stressful and expensive at an already difficult time. Having a will takes care of all that. Will storage and regular will reviews are also available for an extra cost to allow for changes to your will should your situation require it.

Lasting Power of Attorneys (LPAs) can prove extremely worthwhile when the unexpected occurs. With The Alzheimer's Society reporting there are over 850,000 people with the dementia in the UK, with numbers set to rise to 1 million by 2025, it is becoming increasingly important to make it clear what should happen if you lose capacity to manage your own affairs.

There are two types of LPA; one is for 'Financial Decisions' and one is for 'Health and Care Decisions'. Preparing these documents means that you have arranged for those you trust the most to handle the decisions you no longer can should the situation arise.

Also known as a 'Living Will' an Advance Directive makes it clear what treatment you wish to refuse and when if you are no longer able to communicate those decisions with your family and/or potential healthcare team.

Buying a property with a spouse or partner usually means that the property is owned as joint tenants. The legal implications of owning a property as joint tenants means that your share of the property is held equally 50/50 with the other tenant and in the event of one joint tenant dying, the property automatically passes to the surviving tenant. Most importantly, your ownership of the property cannot be passed under your will.

In a situation where the relationship has broken down, owning the property as joint tenants is no longer suitable. In order to address this, the tenancy must be severed. This is a fairly simple process and does not require the other tenant's permission.
