Frequently asked questions

Why hire a magician?

Hiring a magician is a great way to provide all interactive entertainment for all your guests. You can have a magician that performs tricks for you guests as they enter or walking around the event.

A magician is great family friendly entertainment for all ages.

How will I know if I like the type of tricks they do?

Most magicians will have a video archive of a number of their tricks as well as testimonials from previous customers to give you an idea of how it will be on the day/night of your event.

If they live nearby you could always ask if you could meet so that the magician could demonstrate some of the magic they can perform.

Can all magicians do children’s events too?

No, the ages the magician will cater to varies. Some magicians won’t do magic at children’s parties as they feel the magic goes over their head and so wouldn’t be that entertaining for them.

This being said, you can always discuss this with them and if you are particularly keen on one particular professional usually an agreement can be reached. There are also a large number who specialise in children’s magic.

Should I worry about my magician having insurance?

Yes, you should always check to see if the professional has insurance. If they operate as a business it is a legal requirement for them to have public liability insurance.

Will my magician travel?

Yes, most magicians are able to travel to your event regardless of where it is. There are of course travel costs that would be involved which are variable depending on the professional.

If you think the magician will have to travel out of their usual coverage area for your event just be sure to ask them about the cost before booking.

How far in advance should I book?

As soon as possible, most good magicians get booked up quickly, especially during the wedding season (May to September).

The sooner you book the more likely it is that you will be able to get your chosen date.

Always speak to your magician on the phone or skype before you make your decision. They are going to be mingling with your guests, so you want to ensure they’ll get on with everyone.

Using the photos of the magician's previous events are a great way to see what sort reaction he evokes in his audience. Most good magicians will have a decent number of photographs to back up their claims.
