I have been training with Richard for about 6 years. As i suffer from an autoimmune disease it was very important for me to find the right person. Richard has been very flexible around the times I could not train and he is very knowledgeable, not only about personal training, but also about nutrition and rehabilitation. Richard is super personable and training with him has been crucial for my physical and mental well being. After a thorough consultation , in the first couple of years of training, Richard worked with me mainly on strength training, then in the last 3 years I have taken up training boxing with Richard 1-2 a week. We sometimes mix and match so the sessions are never boring and he is very in tune in understanding how much i can take from session to session. I could not recommend this place enough. There are so many good things about True Gym. Not only do they design personalised routines for you in order to help you achieve your body goals, the expertise and support of the trainers is outstanding. In just 4 months I have seen a huge difference in my energy and fitness levels, as well as feeling stronger and more “well” in general. I've been training now with True Personal Training for 4 years and it's the longest I've ever been with a personal trainer! Although I've focused on boxing, the sessions have helped to identify some specific muscle weaknesses that we address with additional exercises each week. Could not recommend true personal training enough! I moved into the area and had not been to the gym in over a year and was very unfit! The team are so friendly and helpful and made me feel comfortable right away, they start you at a level that works for your and help you throughout your workout so you never have that moment of feeling silly in the gym or unsure of what your doing. The team are very accomadating and ensured I was comfortable and well-orientated to the facility. The personal planning and programming is excellent as is the support. Working with Richard and Daen in the run up to our wedding was extremely rewarding. How do you help your clients achieve their fitness goals?
Firstly by listening & asking questions to grasp a good understanding of what the aims & motives are.
Keeping things interesting & fun helps, so where possible, I integrate dynamic forms of exercise, from Boxing & Kettlebell training, to TRX work, all effective & engaging ways to build-up a sweat.
Conversations on sleep habits & nutrition also offers value, particularly as it provides an additional texture of consideration.
What’s the secret to getting the body of your dreams?
Find a way to enjoy what you do; or get as close to that as possible. Exercise - ideally - should be perceived as a highlight, not a chore. With lots of different training methods available nowadays, it is just really about exploration.
