Play On! Piano and music theory lessons with Joanne.

I have taught in schools as a primary school class teacher and Head of Music, and also later as an instrumental teacher. Whilst working in my primary school posts I always maintained a private piano teaching studio alongside my school teaching work. I now enjoy the freedom and flexibility of managing my teaching hours to suit my lifestyle. I also enjoy watching my students develop over the years that I teach them.

I am a kind and patient teacher who has many years of teaching experience. Over time this experience has taught me to break down the learning into small manageable pieces to avoid frustration and loss of confidence. This is one of my biggest strengths and has resulted in a proven track record of both exam success and pupil enjoyment. This is reflected in the years my pupils remain with me.
I tailor my lessons to the individual needs of each pupil and move at a pace appropriate for them.
The majority of my experience has been in teaching children from early years up to 18, but I have also taught successfully across all ages from baby and toddler music classes up to adults including a private piano pupil in her 80’s.

I can offer online tuition. All you need is a good internet connection, a laptop or tablet with a large screen and camera, and of course your instrument!

I introduced the option of learning online to limit the risk of transmission of Covid-19.
