What made me change gear from working as a translator to becoming a PT? For years the gym was my hobby, going 5 times a week or more and often with a friend. I would regularly show her exercise modifications, as she was experiencing breathing problems.

I realised during lockdown that I was very unfit and if I did not get moving it would be very detrimental to my wellbeing.
I was matched with Rachelle who gave me a call and we scheduled my first session in May.
Rachelle is very observing and she was able to notice all of my underlying shoulder pain, scoliosis and adapted some of the movements so they would not cause me pain.
I always get a a good laugh out of my sessions with Rachelle.

How do you help your clients achieve their fitness goals?
I speak to them to ascertain their goals and check if there are any health issues that could impede this. Based on that and a PARQ (standard physical readiness form) I devise a programme. This is tweaked on a regular basis depending on how my client reacts to it. I normally first show the movement and then watch my client to ensure they are doing it correctly.
What’s the secret to getting the body of your dreams?
There are no quick fixes. It is a mixture of diet and exercise. Most people see small results very quickly - this can be looser trousers, lowering of weight, more energy, ability to pick something of the ground, more flexibility. If you adhere to good nutrition and exercise, you will get there.
What do you love most about your job?
Making a positive difference to people's lives. Everyone is an individual (even when in a partnership) and it is wonderful to see/hear about their personal achievement.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I was in a gym which closed down 8 months after I started working there. Rather than join another gym, I decided to become a sole trader.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
I only work in parks and/or zoom. When working in a park I maintain a 2m distance, always wash down equipment, carry sanitiser, masks, gloves etc
