How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
It depends what they want the conversion to be , if its a standard size garage would this be the right size for a bedroom , id say yes but not for a double size bedroom . Also where is the door going to be , if its going to be on to a hallway at the bottom of the stairs the door needs to open into the conversion , this would limit space in the room .
Run us through the different stages of the Garage conversion process - what's involved?
DPC membrane on the garage floor
Fit floor joists , celotex insulation & T/G floor boards .
Fit stud timbers to outside walls , 1st fix electrics & heating.
Fit celotex insulation to walls , fit plaster boards to walls .
Make new entrance from garage to house if it has not already got one .
Remove garage door & frame .
Dog tooth the brick work , build wall , fit window .
Plaster conversion .
2nd fix electrics& heating
Fit door linning , door & skirting
